I've always wondered what it would be like to have someone be in love with you...
Can you imagine it?
Soft exhales ghosting across your lips as they lean in for a kiss, their heart racing, hands shaking as they trail their fingers down your arms, coming to rest on your wrists where they hesitantly grip and pull you closer.
Their warm, compassionate smile, one intended only for you, and the excited glint in their eyes, a hopeful gaze that silently beckons you to say three simple words, those three words that hover on the tip of your tongue, waiting for the perfect moment to be spoken.
The look they get on their face when you tell them all of your problems in hopes that they'll know how to make you feel better- which they always do. They use soothing words and pull you into their lap, letting out a little huff of satisfaction when you eagerly press your tear-stained cheeks into their chest and let out every sob that you've struggled to hold in.
The lilt in their voice as they reverently whisper your name, repeating it as if it is a prayer or a sacred hymn. There is no comparison, no other person that can say it with such adoration and unparalleled awe.
Their little gestures of affection that you have come to adore, whether it be just a food that they always bring to you because they know it's your favorite or a "surprise" that has long since stopped "surprising" you but you refuse to say anything about in hopes that they will never stop. They have somehow managed to memorize every little thing that you enjoy, every ridiculous favorite that no one else has ever wanted to take the time to commit to memory.
The fact that they love every single one of your obnoxious quirks, shrugging their shoulders and chuckling every time you do something strange or stupid. Instead of making fun of you, they cradle your face, tracing the seam of your lips and insisting that nothing you do could ever upset or disturb them.
Love. It is such a complex and challenging emotion to comprehend and experience, yet they claim that it consumes every waking moment of their life, an inescapable yet incredible feeling they have fully immersed themselves in. They can't bear to live a moment without you, can't stand the thought of losing you.
I think about this kind of powerful sensation and feeling, and I find myself wishing for it more than just about anything else.
