the whole transandrophobia vs transmysogyny oppression olympics some are having on this site is baffling to me not because of the content but rather the fact they truly believe that they can’t affect a single individual equally????? that they’re “locked” to 1 experience and that’s it?????
a transmasc on HRT who presents femininely or GNC can be mistaken for a transfem early in their transition and be hurt in transmysogynistic ways, despite already experiencing transandrophobia as a transmasc.
a transfem can be mistaken for a transmasc who’s been on HRT for a while who is feminine and be hurt in transandrophobic ways, despite already experiencing transmysogyny as a transfem.
a nonbinary individual of any kind, who is a the mercy of how others choose to discriminate them that day, can and will be hurt by both transandrophobia and transmysogyny. the only thing to tip the scale is how masc or fem others see them as, or if others try to assume their sex, and even then the results will shock you.
and don’t even DON’T EVEN get me started on intersex individuals.
these are all real life examples i’ve seen with my own two eyes. to add further: i am nonbinary, i am transmasculine. i have been discriminated against in real life before, as expected. i can assure you, the bigot spewing insults and hate on the subway on pride day didn’t ask me my gender and sex before calling me a transmysogynistic slur (used against trans women, mind you) to my face.
