Hayden Christensen is back… "Back in Black".

Hayden Christensen has more to say about coming back as Vader.

"It's a great honor to get to put that suit on," the actor says of returning as the Dark Lord of the Sith.”

“It's been 17 years since Christensen last went under the mask, and the deal was finally sealed when Kenobi director Deborah Chow visited Christensen's farm up in Canada to tell the actor what they had planned for Vader's big return as they discussed bringing the character back to life.”

And for those who thought Revenge of the Sith ended Vader’s story too soon…

“Christensen muses. "And I was just really excited to get to come in and play Darth Vader at this point in the timeline because it did feel like a natural continuation of your journey with the character. And that was very meaningful for me." “

Obi-wan Kenobi Director Deborah Chow tells Entertainment Weekly why they decided to bring back Hayden as Anakin / Vader. Just the title “Obi-wan Kenobi” sparks our imaginations about all the possible scenarios for the series. In the mind of Chow it wasn’t that much of a stretch to imagine who the main villain would be. Speaking of the benefits of a limited series, Chow talks about taking time for character development. “And so for me, the starting place of character is you just start and you look at who has been important to him in his life. And it's quite hard to avoid Anakin/Vader in that scenario, especially coming out of Revenge of the Sith.” The dream of most actors is to be in a character driven story so I can only imagine Hayden’s excitement to take on Anakin / Vader again. And what did Deborah Chow (who is also Canadian) think of Hayden coming back to the role? “He's lovely. And he's absolutely wonderful. And Canadian! So the first time I met him actually was in Toronto, and it was really nice because we sort of met up in Canada, and obviously both with people like Ewan and Hayden, they've been these characters for so long and they obviously did them in the prequels, and they've lived with this character in their lives for so long that they just know the character so well, which makes it so helpful in terms of the creative.” There’s a lot more about Hayden and the series in this interview.
