            Sam watches her mother thoughtfully from her side of the couch, legs tucked beneath her and glass of wine in hand. She's barely touched it, but the point is to relax - spending the night with Debra does wonders to distract her workaholic brain, truthfully, but Sam knows the other woman has so many questions. As much as she'd like not to dredge up her past, she also wants her mom to know the parts of her life that she's missed. And it's only fair, Sam herself has poked and prodded into so much of Debra’s life before her disappearance..

            Lips pull into a smile and she breaks the comfortable silence with a shrug.        “ Alright, go ahead - ask whatever you wanna know. Turnabout is fair play and all that. “

            He’s pressing kisses everywhere he can reach - everywhere but her lips - and grinning, hands sitting on her hips. Ronnie’s glad for these small moments they get, even if they’re few and far between with her work. He wants more time with her, but he’d never ask her to retire because he knows how much she loves what she does.

                               “---Yeah?”

         She hadn’t thought this through, when one of the lab assistants had mentioned Agent Carter in passing conversation ; hadn’t thought much at all beyond connecting the dots from the girl’s brief explanation. She’d only settled on one thing before taking off from the lab she’d been given. Her mother is alive.

         Now she's frozen outside the door to Debra’s office, fighting down the beginnings of tears. She has no right to be here, really -- she isn’t this woman’s daughter. But the desperation she feels clawing in her chest won’t let her leave. Will she even want to see another Sam?

         But at the sound of approaching footsteps Sam steels herself ;  it’s probably now or never. She raps her knuckles against the door and waits for it to open, hardly daring to breathe.

She's just getting back from a rather long trip and god she's ecstatic to see him. She doesn't care they're in the middle of the airport, she's just going to throw her arms around him and hold him close. "Hey there," she breathes, "I'm so happy to see you."

He’s quick to wrap his arms around her, head ducking into his shoulder as he lifts her off her feet and squeezes her tightly. He’s missed her and he’s not sure he wants to let her go again.“I can assure you, the feelin’s mutual, my queen.”

      No words, nope. He’s just keeping her close.

When Ashley gets home that day, she'll find Debra fast asleep on the couch.

Ashley watches her for a moment before deciding to let her sleep awhile longer. Debra doesn’t sleep enough as it is - god knows none of the Bancrofts do - and she loves seeing her face so peaceful. She sits on the end of the sofa by Debra’s feet and pulls out a book, a little smile on her face.

When Debra opens the door, she's got a small child balanced on her hip. She's fourteen and about eight shades of tired. "Thanks for coming, Becs. I would've met you at your house, but as you can see, I'm stuck child wrangling."

With a bright smile, Becca held her arms out to see if Hannah would come to her and give Debra a bit of a rest. Walking through the door, Becca absentmindedly reached out to tuck a piece of hair behind Debra’s ear.

“Sure, I don’t mind coming over here. Especially when I get to see this little cutie,” she said, cooing over Hannah.
