Summer was in full swing, and the children relished their freedom from school. Lucile and Josephine enjoyed it just as much, grateful for the extra hands around the house. With no classes to keep them busy, the children could finally pitch in on chores they usually missed.
Rosemary had grown a bit sassier than usual, while Daisy and Aster had become noticeably pickier about their meals.
To teach them some appreciation, Lucile put the children to work in the garden, hoping they’d learn the value of the food on their table. She reminded them how fortunate they were—don’t look a gift horse in the mouth! Someday, they might not have the abundance they enjoyed now.
Except… someone seemed to be missing.
Aster had developed quite the habit of weaseling his way out of chores by quietly slipping away and keeping his distance. Unfortunately for him, his hiding spots were quickly running out.
Josephine finally caught him, gave him a firm scolding.
