Decided to add a pop of pink to my Sacred Self-Care Oracle 💖✨
When you edge a deck with sharpie? Sometimes a reblackening is needed.
Modding the edges with an ink pad instead of a sharpie or marker works a looooooot better, quicker too
Before and after edging my Dreaming Way tarot. This is a beautiful deck and it has some of my favorite artwork in it, but the white borders seem to lock it, in my opinion. I’ve seen that people who mod this deck usually trim it, but I don’t really like the proportions of it after trimming. To me it does need some kind of mod, so I used Bic Marking in Woodsy Brown on the edges. I love it!
Deck modification
Just finished edging my Dame Darcy’s Mermaid deck - super easy way to jazz-up your cards!
All you need is a metallic gold permanent marker, a Sharpie would be great but I just gave mine away to my niece so I used a paint marker:
Works just as well but look out for drips and leave your cards to dry for a good 15 minutes or they will feel sticky.
Make sure to do one card at a time or you will get bleeding in between the cards!
Also, go up and down so you go over each edge at least twice to get full coverage.
Sorry for the not-so-focused video but my 4 year old filmed it ☺️
Happy colouring people Xxx
Deck Modification #3
And I am back again!
Today it was The Bonefire's turn for the chop. The black borders did not bother me as much as the white ones on the 8 Coins' Tattoo Tarot, but this deck was simply too large for my hands!
The cards are very busy and can be a little confusing at first glance, so I decided to leave the bottom border with the titles. Also, I preferred the shape like this. I can always cut the titles later if I change my mind.
For the edging I wanted to shake things up a bit, so I divided my deck and went a regal purple for the Majors, hot pink for the Swords (I wanted to go red for the blood they can draw but couldn't find my red sharpie!), fiery orange for the Wands, golden orange for the Cups and a bright yellow for the gold Coins.
And this is what it looks like shuffled:
Isn't that fun? You could divide your cards randomly if you don't want any give-aways as to which card belongs to which suit.
I have to say though that I think this only works because the Bonefire is such a strong, brightly coloured deck - I don't think just any deck could carry these colours.
This deck has been the most fun out of all the decks I have modified so far. Easy to cut and corner, despite the meassurements not being as precise as with the 8 Coins; and especially easy to colour the edges, due to the thick cardstock - and no bleeding to speak of because the deck is highly laminated! The whole transformation process took just a couple of hours.
Call me crazy, but I talk to the decks whilst working on them: “I am just going to give you a little trim here”, and “Ooh! You suit this colour!” ☺️
And I am so pleased with the results! It is such a great bonding exercise to work on personalising your deck like this - I feel closer to the decks I modified much quicker than those I just lifted out of their boxes, ready to use.
What's your thoughts?

Another deck freed...
Been feeling a bit under the weather so I can’t go out.
Perfect time to set another tarot deck free from the restrictive borders that bleed the colours from the artwork and stop the characters from interacting!
Dreaming Way Tarot this time…
Cut and Cornered…
And edged bright green to compliment the card backs!
It would look even better without titles but I don’t feel like counting wands or cups before I know which card I am talking to!
How are you feeling?
Earlier today I was feeling decidedly blue…
… so I was drawn to Dame Darcy’s Mermaid deck whilst sipping bitter coffee from my blue cup, using watery colours and images.
My little girl (so perceptive and way older than her 4 years on this Earth) pointed out to me that I had put everything together to match how I was feeling. “But Mummy,” she said “I will call this Sunshine on Water (she loves naming a tableau) ~ and when you think of how pretty the sun sparkles on the water, it will make you happy!”
She was right, you know! So tonight I am feeling a mellow sun-set purple 🌄 …
Using the Crystal Visions Tarot by Jennifer Galasso and preparing to have some sweet plum-coloured wine – and loving my Moon-gazing Hare chalice by the way!

UPDATE: this deck has been cut now to look like this:
Ain’t that cute?!? Love it!!
