Roman is Robin Hood
Patton is Little John
Virgil is Maid Marian
Logan is the Sheriff of Nottingham
Declan/Deceit is King John

Roman, very offended: "What?! Robin?!"
Patton, trying to be supportive: "I mean... It's close. They didn't know my name, so they just called me John."
Patton is tol. And big.
Like. Really big. But the gentlest boi.
And Virgil... Hooooo Virgil.
Virgil is engaged to be married to King Declan.
He is Not Happy™ about that.
Years before, when Virgil was not yet sure of his gender, and Roman was still a nobleman, they met briefly.
Roman was hunting in Sherwood Forest and came upon Virgil, practicing his archery.
Roman: "My crops: watered, My skin: clear, My heart: full"
And Virgil, on a whim, even though he was wearing a dress, introduced himself as Virgil, he/him pronouns, and Roman was like, that sounds great to me
And Virgil, kinda? Realized? He was a gay trans-man, and he was happy, and Roman was so cute, and they kinda kissed
And then Virgil got scared and ran away.
Roman went and found out who Virgil was, except everyone told him he was the daughter of the Earl of Fitzwalter and that? Made him mad? Because Virgil clearly was a male, because he said so, and Roman is respectful.
So anyway, they started going out, and it was cool. They even got engaged.
Until then-Prince Declan met Virgil.
And Declan wanted Virgil, and therefore needed Roman out of the way.
Logan, a childhood friend Declan hadn't seen in years, had recently stepped up as Sheriff of Nottingham, so Declan used this to his advantage.
Declan ordered Logan to have Roman charged with whatever crime.
They seized Roman's estate, and all his assets, and Roman narrowly escaped.
And now that he couldn't give Virgil the life he thought he deserved, he decided he couldn't marry him.
So he wrote Virgil to break off the engagement.
And the story takes place after all this.
Roman has gathered up a band of Merry Men, and he's sworn revenge on those who lie and cheat and steal (read: Logan and Declan).
I would probably start with Roman and Patton meeting.
(here's where I differ more from the Robin Hood story) Patton used to be in the employ of Virgil's parents, but they fired him when he supported Virgil in his gender expression.
So when he meets Roman, they already have this love and support for Virgil in common.
And Roman and Logan are enemies, but every time Logan comes face to face with the thief known as Little John, he. Feels things??? wtf is this?
Or I could take it in a LAMP direction, which would be fun.
Either way. Logan isn't good at emotions.
And yeah. From there we'd take it through your good fun Robin Hood story.
(and maybe Friar Tuck would be. Like. Thomas? Or something? Idk, man. Or I could make Declan one of the Merry Men, and have the King be the Dragon Witch?) (I hc the Dragon Witch as male.)
Idk, there's a few different directions I could take it, but the biggest choice is between Villain and Sympathetic Deceit. If I try to turn this into a fic, maybe I'd make a poll?
Anyway, I stopped working on the prompt piece I was doing for this, sorry! I just thought it was a good idea.
