OwO Mayhaps Roman backstory in your new serial killer au?

You mean NSMB? Absolutely.

Warnings: homophobia, stalking

Roman and Remus were raised by their grandmother after their parents disappeared mysteriously the day after they were born. Their grandmother, Abigail Princeton, was a prominent member of the community who had no time for shenanigans. Yeah, these two got in trouble a lot, especially Remus. Roman was her favorite, and she showed it. She would buy him nicer things than what Remus got, mostly. Not that Remus minded, because he and Roman shared everything. They were close as could be. By the time puberty hit, both of them very much knew they were gay. Their grandmother, a staunch conservative, could never know, so they made friends with a couple of girls and paid them out of their allowances to be their fake girlfriends occasionally. Roman, in the meantime, fell for a boy. I haven't named him yet, but I will now. We'll call him Matthew Hearst. And Roman fell hard. He became friends with Matthew and would do anything he said. The problem was that Matthew was a bit of a delinquent. When he asked Roman to steal, Roman did. And Roman got caught. He was grounded for three months. When those three months were up, he asked Matthew out. Matthew blew up, calling him a freak, and proceeded to avoid him. But Roman wasn't mad at him. He was still infatuated. He continued to do what could only be described as stalking Matthew for months, until Remus finally found out about it and stepped in. It took a lot of convincing, but Roman stopped. The next school year, sophomore year, another guy was the object of Roman's affections. Again, Remus had to intervene. Junior year, there was another. Remus stopped Roman from taking it too far. Senior year, shortly after they turned 18, Abigail died. She left the house to Roman. To spite the old lady, and because Remus was actually better with finances, he signed the house over to Remus. Both of them had started working at this point, both freelance, but their inheritance was enough that it would cover bills for years. After graduation, Remus made friends with Logan and went on to photograph crime scenes for detectives. Roman continued to work freelance, mostly drawing p*rn and furry art for commissions. Not that there's anything wrong with either of those things, it's just what seems to make the most commission money. When Janus moved into town, Remus became friends with him, but Roman never met him because Roman didn't drink and didn't bother with Remus's friends much. Roman had his own best friend, Patton. When Remus dragged him along to Janus's bar one night, though, Roman ordered a drink just as an excuse to talk to the beautiful man behind the counter. Remus, knowing Roman's... stalker-y history, asked if Roman liked Janus. Roman lied.

The Horror of Our Love AU because I love Ludo and I’m a sucker for this song in particular.

Warnings for this AU (not necessarily this post, more could be added later): swearing cuz I have a potty mouth, horror, body horror, major character death, sex mention (nothing explicit, just stating that two characters did the do)

Ships are up in the air as of right now, other than one-sided (Roman’s side) Roceit.

Our narrator/singer/killer is Roman, because it is a romance, in the end (sort of). He’s an artist, always painting or sculpting or writing or singing. He makes money primarily as a street performer and mooches off of his brother for everything else.

The love in question is Janus, because this is self-indulgent. Janus is a bartender who just so happens to own the bar he works at. Roman is a frequent patron of the bar, along with Remus, Virgil, and Logan. Patton comes in occasionally.

Virgil is a lighthouse keeper. Asocial and… lonely. He keeps to himself, though, and tends to the light.

Patton is a single father and baker. His son, Emile, is 2. His bakery is called Pat-a-Cake’s

Remus is a crime scene photographer. Also Roman’s brother. Police don’t fuckin exist in this AU, so he works freelance for the coastal city’s different government-funded homicide and missing person detectives. (Side note, my phone says government-funded is not a word lol)

Logan is one of those detectives, and he’s the one that connects all the cases of Roman’s victims, so the other detectives turn all the cases over to him.

Thomas is an actor, much less successful in this AU than IRL or in the Sides ‘verse. When he narrowly escapes getting killed by Roman, Logan takes interest in him. The problem is, he can’t remember anything about that night but the cathedral at the edge of the bluffs. He has no idea why he was there.

Nico is Thomas’s boyfriend, because I like Pintroverts, but he gets killed by Roman sometime during that night Thomas can’t remember, because I also like angst.

I love seeing how Patton's falsely innocent remarks about his friendship with Janus mesh with Janus' nonchalant dismissal of their friendship. Patton knows that Janus has an image to keep, and it shows because he's just a little bit off kilter when talking about him. And Janus is just flat out lying about how he interacts with Patton (it's hard to mistake a pun lord in a cat sweater who talks and squeals and can't sit still for a garbage can)

They're both playing it up so much to hide the fact that they get along so well. They're con artist husbands, your honor

A/N: scott’s pov, finally!! as well as more of my “the empires smp gals deserve to go off, actually” agenda. also check out this rad art submitted by @dancinglifeboat! i also would like to apologize ahead of time, the updates from here on out are probably going to slow down a bit because while i am still extremely motivated to write this fic, it hasn’t been as high as it was for the upcoming chapters as it has been for the previous ones. i honestly don’t even know HOW i was so motivated to write several chapters so fast that i actually had a backlog of them for a bit and was able to post them daily. so the updates will likely slow down to being every couple of days or maybe every couple of weeks, depending on time/motivation. but yeah! anyway, enjoy!

Scott felt just about sick to his stomach every time he looked at the slimeball Jimmy had given him. It was such a stupid little thing to get emotional over, and it was honestly kind of gross and sticky. But Scott couldn’t bear to get rid of it. It had stung more than he cared to admit when Jimmy had reminded him of how isolated and distant Scott was from everything. Staying up and away from the world kept him safe, kept his empire safe. But being safe didn’t make it any less lonely and isolating. And then Jimmy had looked at him like he was the world, and told him that he should be able to enjoy the little things too. Scott couldn’t bear to get rid of the slimeball, even though the memories were painful now. For as much as bluntly being reminded that he was alone stung, Jimmy telling him to leave stung even worse.

Backstory: In my hc version of the empires universe, Lizzie inherited the throne of the Ocean Empire at age 6, with Jimmy, her younger brother, being just an infant when their parents disappeared. About 20 years later, Jimmy went to start his own empire in the swamp. Lizzie sent Morpheus with him.

Morpheus was an apprentice builder and artisan when he met the seablings, helping to expand the new palace Lizzie was building. He helped defend Lizzie and Jimmy from a horde of zombies that overtook the guards, and in the battle got scratched across the face and bitten on the right hand. His arm had to be amputated. Lizzie took him in as he recovered, and Jimmy taught him to read and write to pass the time. No longer able to build or craft the delicate things he could before with a wooden hand, he instead read every book in the royal library. Well-versed in history and strategy, he served as an advisor to Lizzie for two years before she sent him with Jimmy. He feels he owes the seablings, especially Jimmy, who helped him find new purpose with the gift of literacy, his life. He is one of the few Cod Empire citizens that was there from the very beginning, and he helped build the empire from the ground up.

Don’t imagine Scott gathering his allies to fight against Sausage, Joey and Xornoth, before they get too powerful. Don’t imagine them almost winning against the demon because they have numbers on their side. Don’t imagine the demon using its influence on Scott’s allies to turn them against him because why else would it choose Gem, fWhip, and Katherine to be its test subjects.

Don’t imagine Scott alone and defeated forced to seek help from the one person who asked for his friendship but was rejected. Don’t imagine the Codfather telling Scott “I’m not doing this for you. I’m doing this to save Katherine.” Don’t imagine Jimmy gathering his allies in his alliance room trying not to acknowledge that one person’s seat is being sat in by one of Jimmy’s enemies. Don’t imagine the three trident wielders not trusting Scott until Jimmy tells them to trust him because “This feels right”. It is for the greater good after all.

Don’t imagine the two fighting in the final battle together with their allies against the demon’s forces. Don’t imagine Scott feeling excited about fighting along side him because it wasn’t something he was exactly able to do before. Don’t imagine Scott being forced to acknowledge that he does care about Jimmy when the demon tries to go for him. Don’t imagine that when their side is almost defeated, Scott realizes that the only way to defeat Xornoth is to sacrifice himself. Don’t imagine Jimmy looking Scott in the eyes as he realizes that he doesn’t want to see Scott be sacrificed. Don’t imagine Scott apologizing to Jimmy as the two siblings strike the final blow against each other.

Don’t imagine that this time it’s Jimmy making Scott’s grave on a mountain. Planting the poppy he had framed ages ago.
