Call for Papers: POWER Special Issue – Feminism in Asia
The Psychology of Women & Equalities Review (POWER) is excited to announce a special issue on Feminism in Asia. This issue aims to decentre Western feminist paradigms and foreground perspectives from Asian contexts, exploring how feminism intersects with psychology, social activism, and everyday life. We are particularly interested in submissions that engage with marginalised voices—across gender, sexuality, disability, caste, political identity, and other forms of exclusion—and that challenge dominant narratives within both global and local feminist scholarship.
We welcome contributions from early-career researchers, activists, scholars, and individuals working in academic-adjacent fields, both within Asia and in relation to Asian contexts. Submissions can take many forms, including:
Theoretical or empirical papers
Reviews of books, films, or media
Short papers, commentaries, interviews
Creative work such as poetry, art, or photography
Suggested topics (but not limited to) include:
Emerging discourses in psychology
Minorities’ voices within nations
Feminism and popular culture
Imagining a psychology of women
Feminism in education
Psychology’s engagement with feminist and queer movements
Responses to ethnic violence
Feminist resistance to nationalism
