Majolica tea pot with gold luster - hand painted shrimp design for just $175.00 This beautiful tea pot has been sitting in my studio and has given me much. I learned different techniques and used a gold luster for the first time. But I am now thanking the tea pot for all the pleasure it gave me in making and enjoying it’s presence in my studio. It is now time for the joy to be passed on to another. This tea pot was made in red earthenware and glazed with a majolica glaze that I make myself. The body and the spout were thrown on the potters wheel. After the bisque fire I dip the pot in the glaze and wait a couple of days for it to dry before I start painting the design on with stains and some raw colorant mixed with a medium for it to stay in place until it is fired. I use the electric kiln with a stable environment to do the glaze fire. It was after that firing that I apply the gold luster and fire once more at a very low temp to set the luster. I did have trays, mugs and bowls with this unique design but they were sold years ago. I made this tea pot in the late 1990’s.
