1) I was alive for the huge pokemon + anime boom. Like, y’all don’t understand the crazy ass phenomenon that was pokemon back when I was a child. it was everywhere! And then the huge boom in anime too. I remember watching dbz and yuyu hakusho after school, not just waiting for late at night like it mostly is now. I was definitely a part of it all too haha

2) I was into homestuck during its huge peak. Like it was fucking crazy - waiting for the updates and shit - getting hype over the flashes and just.... wow. Like looking back on it now, it was one of the coolest mediums I’ve ever been a part of to be honest. Yeah, the fandom was weird at times - but almost all fandoms are and nowadays they are even more terrible in worst ways imo. Just homestuck itself is a really cool piece of work - you may not like it, but you have to give it credit for not only the huge fandom it had but the use of media within it.
I think.... I think I get why I’m now frustrated with sheith and how the sheith fans are riding the I love you thing so far, even when Keith said ‘you’re my brother right before it.’
Sheith has become Elricest to me.
Now first of all, I know that Shiro and Keith aren’t related. I’m not saying they are and never will say they are. And a piece of my heart, deep down, wishes the brothers and raising comments were never made because I honestly had high hopes that Sheith would be our lgbt rep. If the writing is good enough, they could still do it - if they can show a liquid movement of ‘oh i love this person not like family, but-’, then awesome.
But what’s done is done thus far in canon. Those words have been said, two times, and one time saying Shiro RAISED him. So as far as it goes right now, Keith loves Shiro like family, full stop. He doesn’t want to marry him, he doesn’t want to kiss him, he just loves him.
The I love you that Keith said was meant to be powerful - which is probably why so many translations have used a very powerful word. It was meant to hold a very deep meaning because this is Keith, opening up to the one family member that has always been there for him, letting his guard down after a lifetime of having it up. And as that den of geek interview said - we need that in media, to see a boy love his family freely, to openly say it! It doesn’t have to be romantic to matter because with toxic masculinity the way it is, it’s rare to see boys telling their father or brother that they love them. This is huge.
And some sheith fans are taking this beautiful scene between two brothers who care about each other deeply, who would sacrifice themselves for each other, and make it about romantic love?
It’s Elricest all over again.
Which honestly? I wouldn’t be surprised if there are old Elricest shippers who are now Sheith shippers. And I’m not saying that in a negative way - people can ship what they want, but that doesn’t mean I have to agree with it.
Elricest, or rather - the Fullmetal Alchemist ship between Ed and Al, has ALWAYS left a bad taste in my mouth purely because I am very close to my sister, she is my best friend, I love her - I would do so many things for her and I know she’d do the same for me. Seeing that kind of sibling bond in media always makes me smile because, I get it. Ed and Al’s especially!
So when shippers come in and be like ‘oh mai gawd they are totally in love!!’, I just... dude - they are brothers... this isn’t some fucking moe blob incestfest show, it’s fma and that is disrespectful to the character’s platonic love.
And that’s exactly how I’m feeling about Sheith right now. The huge movement of Keith and Shiro’s brotherly love - their devotion to one another, resonates a lot to me like Ed and Al’s relationship!
I’m honestly sad that Season 6 cemented more of that familial bond because I truly did ship Sheith, I still do like a lot of the fan works and still hold a piece of it to my heart, but as long as that emotion still stands in canon? I’m sorry, I can’t. I just can’t. Age differences don’t bother me one bit, but the minute we cement a close brotherly bond like that? I just can’t tarnish it.
I still pray that maybe, jds, lm, and dw will make things different - that with the remaining 20+ episodes or so, that Keith and Shiro’s feelings evolve. They are the ones that I would bank on, unless others start to make headway in the next season(s) (which will probably focus on getting home, building a new castleship etc) but maybe if Shiro rides with Keith they will have heart to hearts were maybe Keith realizes his feelings aren’t platonic.
I don’t know, I’m word vomiting.
Just that as long as the familial love is still there - it turns me off from the ship, sadly.

Disjointed Voltron S6 thoughts under the read more :)
So season 6 happened. Here are my thoughts on it as a whole, will be disjointed and a little muddy - I’ll do it by character I guess.
First off, Lotor was a disappointment to me. I was saddened by the turn of events but wasn’t surprised the thing with the alteans was crazy and wow. But he’s always been a villain and sadly that’s what happened.
Along side Lotor - Haggar was a disappointment, but I hope maybe she’ll have a bigger stand in the next season. His generals were also disappointing.
I felt for Allura, who was blinded by lotor and his pretty words. But overall, I wasn’t that in enthralled with Allura this season - she was wonderful yes but a diff character stole the light for me. She still had a lot of fantastic moments in this season <3
Lance, oh lance - you love sick little bean !! I’m rooting for you!! If anyone says Lance doesn’t respect Allura after this can eat my entire ass. He loves her full stop. You can tell he is maturing (and his love with it) but he is still out goofball <3
Hunk was amazing this season - worked his intelligence and him with the governess was so funny
Pidge was also amazing. Her using Shiro’s arm code like that, knowing a situation like this could occur? Fantastic.
Ok now to the two who stole the show.
Shiro, poor Shiro, he’s been through way too much and I hope that now that his soul is free from the black lion he will be able to rest. I really hope the production team retires him from Voltron- have do like he did in season three. I think it would be good for him. But wow his scenes were pretty damn powerful!! (and lmao dnd shiro cracked me up)
Keith. My sweet son. Fuck. I don’t even know where to begin with Keith. He was easily the best character this season (who am I kidding he’s the best all around) his brotherly bond with Shiro was so great, his learning of his mom and dad and the backstory they share, his maturing and finding that peace he so desperately needed felt so good!! Those flashbacks sobs. Every scene that had Keith in it, my heart soared!
I’m just floored by this season. There was some messiness to it, yes, but over all - it was great! But that animation?? FANFUCKINGTASTIC!! I adored the animation in this season holy fuck. 11/10

Sadly, the emphasis on family bonds w sheith make my thought of it becoming canon near nonexistent. The life or death i love you made perfect sense for a western family to say to another and while I still hope that maybe it will develop into something else, the fact this is the second time family is brought up with sheith (twice in this season actually) and jds saying it that way too… well, yeah. Still a good valid ship tho.

Back when I was first writing fics for vld, I liked exploring the ideal of different ones, but from s3e7, it’s made perfectly clear that Voltron began and ended with Zarkon. From the beginning we knew Alfor was involved in protecting the lions from the corrupted Zarkon - and then protecting Allura, whose life force is connected to the lions.
So, I think it’s safe to assume the lions have only had two sets of paladins. With that in mind, I think we can stop assuming there have been multiple sets of paladins because I don’t think that’s the case at all. There have only been three black, blue, and red paladins. Only two green and yellow.
Unless, of course, the show proves me wrong, but right now? I can’t see it any other way.
I stayed up late reading a romance novel, finishing the whole book in under three hours, I gobbled it up - I love romance books!! Every time I read one, it just makes me really, really, want to try to write one myself. They are always so much fun.
The one I read had some of my favorite troupes - forced proximity, sharing a bed, and loathing that turns to love(well, they didn’t really hate each other, but they didn’t really like each other at the start) - it was so much fun watching their actual arguments turn into ones of playfulness and become flirting.
August 4th!?!?!! if that is confirmed sometime soon by the Voltron crew etc, then Imma need to put in that request off so I can do my binge again ehehe (I’m a responsible adult)

This is just personal opinion, BUT I think a majority of the teaser was from the first couple of episodes. Especially the one where Hunk is like ‘we can’t form Voltron anymore’ and Kolivan is like ‘BITCH HOLD UP, THIS AIN’T HAPPENING’ so lance-hunk-bom scenes are mooore than likely either episodes 1 through 4, I’m guessing either 2 or 3, tbh.
After that, Keith goes to black, Lance is somehow shown compatible w Red and, here is where I’m going to get crazy - - - if we go by the older Voltron, Allura will be in Blue and honestly, I REALLY WANT HER TO BE, I WANT ALLURA TO BE PART OF THE FIGHT SO MUCH. But, what if, the formation was right in front of our nose the whole time? I mean, have y’all seen Voltron twitter header? Juuust saying (plus maybe him being all ‘i’ll follow in your footsteps’ was foreshadowing?) BUT BUT, I really, don’t want to be right. Alluraforbluepaladin2k17 But the fact we didn’t see neither Coran or Allura is strange to me, BUT it was only a small teaser-trailer, so!
Either way, I’m excited to see what happens this coming season, if we get to see where Shiro is at all or not is up for debate, but the one screenshot we got of Shiro and Matt fighting side by side shows that hey, he ain’t dead, so all is well
