I'm almost finished The Act on Hulu, and one thing that really bothers me is that they never really show or talk about all the physical abuse DeeDee put Gypsy through. I've looked into this story before and watched a bunch of her interviews, one of the main reasons Gypsy didnt just "stand up and walk away" is because she was afraid of her mother's wrath and abuse. She said that if her mother caught her walking around the house she would beat her with hangers or shoes. The one time when she tried to escape with that guy from the convention, not only did DeeDee show the man (forged)proof that Gypsy was a minor, but then when she took her home, she tied her up to the bed for 2 weeks straight. All the show showed in that scene was DeeDee saying to the man, after Gypsy walks out with her, is "How dare you, she's only 14" and then they show them going home, but never shows how DeeDee retaliated. It just seems strange to me that they would leave out those kind of details, it would show how heinous and evil DeeDee truly was.
