iii finally finished. total time: eleven hours, fifty-two minutes. fifty-four layers for the artwork. finger and lasso + ibis paint x + phone

i would put the alts and the design notes below a cut, but every time i add one, tumblr moves the main illustration to the bottom.

notes:

each character forms an eye shape

the x across medkit's eye is sword's chat color,

the thieves' den symbol across katana's face is his chat color, his backgrounds' eyes are directed to look at deedee and not healing gun

scythe is outlined with grappling hook's horn color

the smoke around broker is zuka's horn color, the eyes in broker's background do not look at him.

the claws on healing gun's shoulders could be interpreted as either cavalry sword or father overseer. or both!

the text around healing gun are lyrics from 'an idle brain invites the devil in' from Salem the Musical

okay lore update: deedee is gifted a pocket knife instead because it's easier to travel with. forgot to think about how heavy a pistol was

au posting. if deedee joined darkage, she'd be given a ladybug mask to match her six limbs (horns + arms + legs)

regular posting, throwing hearts used to use a dove mask in her time in darkage. she burnt the mask after she left, but she has the ashes saved in a pouch

hmmm. here's their names for if they were human. i focus on meaning rather than keeping it similar to the first letter.

Healing Gun: Grace. it makes her sound docile which is what Cavalry Sword wants for her.

DeeDee: I mean. do i even have to change it. im keeping it as DeeDee thats cool as fuck. she'd probably think the same too

Throwing Hearts: hmmm. Htike. It means 'worthy, deserving' in Burmese.

Sleeping Wand: Noe, meaning 'rest'.

Poison Butterfly: Samael, meaning 'poison of God'. the God part doesn't have any significance in this regard, i mainly just chose it because it was the only plausible name that had the same meaning as her name.

Gear Cloner: Mahina. she'd choose it because they didn't really give her a name (part grabber's decision) when she was in blackrock. its pretty and has a nice meaning (hawaiian name meaning halo of the moon)

Healing Orb: Volya (a Russian name meaning freedom, her main cause behind following darkheart. her transition and convertion line up, so it's fitting)

Healing Potion: Anzhel (was going to change it to Anzhelina, but they thought that it didn't fit her vibe, so she kept it the same.)

about the deedee illustration i dont think im gonna add father overseer and cavalry sword...hes already there via the eye on healing gun's portrait and cav is there via the other eyes + doesn't have a design yet

as an adult deedee would probably rotate random pronouns each week. like monday rolls around and she's like 'hi :3 i use he/him and masc terms right now :3' and everyone's like okay go get it boy 👍 /positive
