all gifs i shamelessly took from @alchemivich thank you so much for doing God’s work 🙏
✌️ I should be sleeping but I read a wonderful analysis on Deuce Spade and now I can’t stop thinking about him
like like like NRC starts in September like in western schools so does that mean Deuce was notified of his enrollment in March or April? That gives him 6-7 months to get his act together, which includes the way he speaks and his attitude towards others. Deuce slips into his delinquent speak when he’s angry or about to get into a fight, but for the most part he’s doing really well speaking politely and showing respect to others. He always refers to his senpais by their last name unlike everyone else in school. He also refers to himself as boku and even uses jibun, which from my understanding isn’t the same as boku or watashi but is a polite way to refer to himself. No one would’ve been able to tell he was an ex-delinquent if he not for his slip ups. Back in episode 1, Grim and MC were surprised when Deuce explained his past and Trey was thrown for a loop when Deuce announced he’ll also challenge Riddle for dorm leader. The fact that Deuce can do a complete 180 shows his insane amount of willpower. Not to mention according to the Magical Archives, he’s second to Sebek in terms of overall motivation for classes among the first years AND he takes first place in motivation for history classes. Even Riddle, in his ceremony robes voice lines, acknowledges that Deuce is a good student.
Despite his sudden shift in character, this doesn’t mean Deuce is a fake or ingenuine towards others. When he sees something he doesn’t like, he won’t hesitate to stand up to authority just like he did with Riddle and with Crewel when Crewel was bothering Jack. Deuce does later regret going against Riddle after getting kicked out of Heartslabyul, but that’s because his actions went against his version of what an honor student is. Honor student Deuce would be obedient and follow orders, but true Deuce wouldn’t take shit standing down. Deuce is also considerate towards others. He offered MC to carry the heavier bags, made sure Ace wasn’t taking advantage of MC, apologized to the senpais bothered by Grim cutting in line, and ran to inform Ace of Trey’s injury.
Don’t get me started on Deuce and Epel.
Anyway, it’s 6am my brain is ded and I want to wrap this up by saying that I honestly can’t wait to see how Deuce will develop. Since the very beginning, Deuce has been struggling with trying to be the perfect honor student. From what I’ve seen so far, his version of an honor student is someone who doesn’t get into fights, has good grades, and helps others. Although helping others can come easy to him, the other two don’t. A lot of Deuce’s struggles is talked about in episode 5 so I hope that by the end of the episode, Deuce will find a way to harmonize who he is and who he wants to be.
Goodnight everyone! ✌️
I miss this good boy 😩
