Six AM: Marty Deeks x Reader

Talk Radio - You can't sleep without the radio on.

Waiting - Marty waits up for you.

It’s 6am and Marty’s watching you sleep. He’s been doing that a lot since the accident. Instead of getting up and going surfing, he spends the hours after the sunrise curled up around you, holding you close because he’s terrified of losing you all over again.

It’s in these hours that the memories flood back. The flashing lights and the knock at the door. The sound of your sergeant’s voice as he tells him you’ve been in a road collision, that they’ve airlifted you to a Level 1 Trauma Centre because of your injuries.

It had taken you three days to wake up and Marty had never been as relieved as he was in that moment when you opened your eyes and grumbled at him about the wires that were attached to you.

Now you’re back home with him, in the bed you share together, still on this earth, still recovering.

You sigh as you turn over to face him, mumbling in your sleep. You do this sometimes, talk in your sleep, usually it’s inane shit like telling Monty the dog he’s a good boy or that he needs a bath. The second one usually sends the dog skittering from the end of the bed, where he sleeps by your feet. He’s been protective since you’ve returned home, hovering by your side as you go about your day today, barking at anyone he doesn’t recognise. He seems to sense that something happened to you, that you’re more fragile than you used to be.

You burrow even closer against his form and Marty takes this as a sign you’re feeling vulnerable. He gathers you up into his arms, drawing you into the shelter of his body and you start to settle again. This happens sometimes too, you have nightmares bad dreams. He’s always there to reassure you, to sooth you because Marty, he has them too. Ones where you don’t come back from the hospital, ones where he doesn’t make it there in time.

He closes his eyes and listens to the sound of your breathing, he feels the rise and fall of your chest and he thanks God, Buddha and all the other deities that you survived, that you made it back home to him.

Christmas Countdown - Day 4

Christmas Tree Lights

Pairing: Marty Deeks x Reader

Word Count: 405

Deeks had just finished taking the tree out of it’s box and set it up in the corner of the living room. As you fixed some baubles and tinsel around, he sat on the chair, a ball of lights in his palms.

“You have got to be kidding me!?” he exclaimed and you turned around to see the tangled ball of wires moving through his hands, “Oh my God, what has happened in here?” he complains, realising small decorations had also been tangled in the cables.

You grabbed the end of the wires that you could find, hoping it was a fast way to untangle them, but really you were making it worse. As you pulled the wire towards you, you were just tightening the knots that had formed in the middle of the ball 

“Just stop! God! You’re worse than Kensi with your mess.“ Deeks joked before taking the wire from your hands, “Let me deal with this, and we’ll do it together when I’ve untangled this horror show.“ he suggested.

There was still more to do with the tree, so you knew that you could finish it slowly enough while Deeks unravelled the lights in the chair. Before he started the huge task, he pressed play on his phone, causing Christmas songs to echo around the room. 

It took the length of at least 4 songs before he had untwisted and straightened out enough of the lights for him feel able to start wrapping them around the tree. He took the step ladder from the corner of the room and stood on it, pointing you to a spot at the bottom. “Take that and start wrapping them around the tree.” he directed and you followed his request.

When they were fixed nicely on his end, he stepped off the ladder and joined you to finish the last little part. He could be a perfectionist so he wanted to make sure they were in a place that satisfied him before switching them on. After a few little movements of the wires, Deeks took the plug and put it into the socket to light up the multicoloured bulbs.

He made them flash, instead of the boring still choice and took a stood back. His arm wrapped around you, “In future, you are never putting these decorations back again.” he smiled then pressed his lips to your cheek for a small kiss.

You walked into the workplace of your fiance LAPD liasion to the NCIS team, you'd meet the team a couple of times and knew that they'd just finished a grousome case, as Marty had put it. You also knew that since his partner had taken him into work this morning he needed a ride home and since you had just gone in to the doctors for a check up you were already close by anyway so there was really no point in going home anyway. But you also had a feeling that your fiance would love for his team to hear your news, they were family and even though you'd only known them for the last three years you were slowly beginning to see them that way too. As you walked in you were greeted by Nell and Eric, both of whom had been together about four months now, something that had been celebrated wildly when the office had found out as there were many bets that had to be collected on.

“Y/N, what are you doing here?” Eric asked and you smiled at the two of them

“Well since Marty came in with Kensi today and I was already on this side of town I thought to myself why not come and pick my fiance up. I also wanted to talk to all of you” you explain and the two agents nod, following you through the hall towards the desk area you know your fiance and his team work. You smile seeing them all gathered on the couches with a beer in their hands, they looked relaxed and in a good mood. Making your way up behind Marty you wrap your arms around his waist before kissing the side of his neck, he lets out a little moan before turning in your arms, he smiles brightly and you see the happiness shining in his eyes underneath his shaggy mane of blonde hair.

“Y/N, sweetie, I wasn't expecting you to come and pick me up” he said and you smile

“I know but I was already on this side of town and wanted to come and see you, besides I really wanted to tell you guys something” you say and he looks at you confused, you look out at the rest of them team and see them with confused expressions as well. Taking a deep breath to ready yourself you say happily

“Well I decided that since I haven't been feeling that well recently to go to the doctors who ran a couple of tests” you watching each of the faces in the group, the guys still looking a little puzzled but you can see Kensi and Nell starting to put the pieces together

“I wanted to share this with all of you since I know how much you mean to Deeks, and since he's pretty much my whole world you guys are a deal package” you pause to take a deep breath feeling incredibly nervous and anxious about what everyones reactions will be

“What is it Y/N?” Sam asks

“I'm uh, I'm pregnant with twins” you say and you hear Nell and Kensi gasp, Sam, Eric and Callen are all a little stunned and Deeks is rooted to the spot, completely stunned. It wasn't until you felt a tap on your side that you looked down and saw Hetty, she gave you a warm smile before saying

“Congratulations Ms Y/L/N! This is some great news for you and Mr Deeks, I feel honoured to have found out from you” she says and you smile at her a little sheepishly forgetting that you hadn't actually asked her over to join the group, you begin to apologise to her and she shakes it off

“Nonsense darling I knew the moment Deeks walked in a couple of days ago saying that you had been plagued with a stomach bug for the last week, not many bugs last that long my dear and you weren't experiencing any other symptoms that would cause me to think of poisoning” she explained and I nodded thinking through her answer before I felt a pair of arms wrap around my waist, it was Nell and she was gushing about how exciting it was that I was pregnant with twins, I smiled, nodding. I got congratualtions from the rest of them team before they left Deeks and I alone. I looked at my fiance noting that he hadn't said a word since i'd told everyone that I was pregnant.

“Marty?” I questioned and he didn't budge, I pulled his head down slightly and kissed him passionately which caused him to shiver before he pulled me closer and leant his forehead against mine

“We're pregnant?” he asked and I frowned

“Since i'm the one that has to carry the two of them for the next nine months I'm preg-” you don't get to finish as Deeks captures your mouth in his and you melt into the kiss. When you pull away to breath again Deeks places a kiss on your forehead before saying

“I can't believe we're going to be parents, to twins” he said excitedly and you smile at his enthusiasm before saying with a little tremor in your voice saying

“Do you think we'll be good parents?” it had been plaguing you a little since you found out a couple hours ago. Deeks pulls you in close and you close your eyes as he kisses your forehead

“I think we're going to have struggles but I know that we'll get through them, together” he tells you before he captures your lips again, and somehow all of the doubt you had just seconds before are gone, of course together the two of you can get through this, you think, together!

‘Kensi, can you please do something with that thing.’ You asked Kensi when she arrived at the desks. ‘What thing?’ She asked with a raised eyebrow. ‘That.’ You said pointing to the disgusting food that had been abandoned on Deeks desk. She looked over and swallowed the bite of food. ‘Nope, you can move it.’ She said as she took the seat next to you. You turned to her. ‘I moved the last one.’ You said to her, sighing. She looked at you and raised her hand, rubbing her head. ‘He’s your boyfriend, control his mess.’ ‘So what if he’s my boyfriend, I didn’t sign up for the disgusting food, left on his desk.’ You said as you held your nose, the smell making its way over to you. You almost gagged. ‘I think I should put it in the bin.’ You said as you turned back to Kensi. She nodded her head agreeing. ‘Yeah, save us all from having to wear gas masks.’ She responded through her blocked nose.

You stood up and walked over to the desk, lifting your top to cover your nose. Not going to close, holding it at arm’s length. ‘What the hell is in this?’ You asked as you walked over to Kensi, showing her it. She scrunched her eyes closed. ‘Ham, mustard, pickles, cheese.’ Deeks voice came out from behind you. Your eyes widened slightly. ‘He’s right behind me, isn’t he?’ You asked Kensi, as you noticed her swallow the last of her food. She nodded. You turned around and were faced with a confused Deeks. ‘What were you doing with my sandwich?’ He asked. ‘Sandwich?’ You asked and he nodded. ‘This is what you call a sandwich?’ You asked again, looking at the thing in your hands. ‘Yes, it’s all my favourite things.’ He said, with relaxed shoulders. ‘Well, I’m awfully sad to say this.’ You said as you took a step back, closing in on the bin. ‘What are you doing.’ He asked, quite urgently. ‘Step away from the bin.’ He said, with his arms raised, you looked at him with a cheeky glint in your eyes. ‘Why should I?’ You asked. You waved it over the bin and you heard him squeak. You looked at Kensi and saw she was trying to hold her laughter in. ‘He squeaks.’ You said, waving the ‘sandwich’ over the bin again, Deeks, repeating the sound again. ‘Why shouldn’t I bin it?’ You asked him, teasingly. ‘Because it’s mine.’ He said obviously. Kensi stood up and walked away, still holding her laughter in. you raised it again and chuckled as he reached out. Your fingers ‘slipped’ and you seen his eyes go wide as he watched it fall into the bin, his face slowly changing but then he stood up and looked at you with fake anger. ‘Oops.’ You said, as you looked in the bin and then back up to Deeks. ‘Y’know… That’s not what an apology sounds like.’ He said, sighing slightly. ‘Bite me.’ You said to him, with a smirk. He stepped forward. ‘I might have to since you binned my sandwich.’ He said, and your eyes widened as he took another step forward.

Talk Radio: Marty Deeks x Reader

It’s early when Deeks let’s himself into the house or late depending on how you look at it. The sun is just starting to rise in the distance, the orange glow casting shadows across the floorboards before he closes the front door quietly behind him.

If he strains his ears he can hear the low sounds of talk radio emitting from the bedroom. You say that his constant dialogue has conditioned you, that the only way you can sleep when he’s not there is with the sound of a radio host constantly in your ear.

You’re completely out of it when he slips into the bedroom, tangled up in the sheets, wearing one of his shirts, face pressed into his pillow. Deek thinks it’s freaking adorable. He can’t believe he gets to come home to you every day, that he gets to love you.

He undresses quietly, peeling off each layer and leaving them in a heap on the floor because he’s too tired to do anything more than climb into bed with you. He’s been running on full steam over the past couple of days, barely been home for anything more than a quick shower before he’s back out chasing down leads.

He turns off the small battery powered radio on the nightstand, the one that used to belong to your father before he climbs in underneath the sheets. You mumble in your sleep, draping yourself over him like a weighted blanket. He wraps his arms around you, burying his face into your hair as he inhales the scent of your coconut shampoo.

Already he can feel himself starting to settle, his eyelids fluttering closed as his body starts to relax. His lips brush over your hairline as he whispers into the dark.

“Sweet dreams baby.”

Marty usually waits up for you on the rare nights he gets home before you do. He grabs a beer out of the fridge, pops off the cap and collapses onto the couch, the TV on in the background because he can’t stand the sound of silence.

An hour passes and then two, he flicks open his phone and calls you but it goes straight to voicemail.

“Baby,” He says as his head comes to rest on the back of the couch. “I’m just checking in, will you call me when you get this? Give me an ETA.”

He doesn’t realise he falls asleep, not until he jolts awake to the sound of the Jaws theme tune coming from the TV. His phone is still clutched in his hand, he checks for messages but there’s none. It’s been three hours since he called and still no word from you. His stomach twists because he’s starting to get that feeling, that terrible one that jingles through his nerve endings. He calls you again but it just goes straight to voice mail. He leaves another message but cuts off because he sees the flash of blue and red lights outside the window and his heart just sinks.

When he opens the door, he’s greeted by two police officers, their hands clasped in front of them respectfully.

“Detective Deeks?” Your sergeant says carefully. “There’s been an incident.”
