Understanding the OPPOSITION aspect in SYNASTRY

An elaborated piece about the essence of the opposition aspect in your natal chart is here.

It is a good point to start before plunging into its meaning in the synastry. 

To summarise. Whether or not we see it, any quality that we have in us is only alive because of its opposition.

SYNASTRY opposition is the sacred tool for us to recognise the opposition in ourselves. Often it is considered being the most difficult aspect between the two charts, and on some level it is. 

The deeper you are willing to explore, the more you appreciate any difficult aspect, and the aspect of opposition -  in particular. 

Besides understanding WHAT does this aspect mean in the charts of the two of you, you really want to understand WHY.

Answering to this question may take your partnership to a new level. 

First, opposition is the same thing that is … a conjunction…but - in the opposite way. 

When the two things conjunct, we often think that they become one. There is a union, a mixture. Rarely do we get to see that the new union (which results from the conjunction) has the new opposition in itself.

In the synastry chart, opposition can signify several types of interaction between the energies of the two. 

(Please note that although synastry chart mostly refers to the intimate partnerships or friendships, it also includes any other one- on - one relationship like: teacher - apprentice, doctor - patient, client - provider, etc.)

The first type of the opposition is a fight between the two very different qualities. This energy of “fighting”, however, may give an intense arousal in the domain of sexual interaction. And often it is considered being an aspect of passion. But outside of it, this type of the opposition will hugely complicate things, make the energy sharp, or heavy, or tight (depending on the planets), and the sense of fight (“either this, or that” feeling) will always prevail. One partner will feel like the win is theirs, and the other one will have to feel they have lost. Here the compromise usually feels unnatural, and boundaries-breaking for one of the partners.

Another type of the opposition is the ability (usually unconscious) of the partners to distribute the energy in such a way that both parts feel satisfied and in charge while moving towards the same goal. Usually, it refers to the opposition of the planets that signify manifestation of an outward action. Sun - Sun opposition, for example. Mars - Mars can be extremely constructive for a project building as well. But on the level of the emotional spheres, this opposition is still a huge cornerstone. The two people will intrinsically feel there is a pull - push game going on at the energy level, but both are not willing to give away their “share”. Sometimes this is totally unconscious and stems from an insecurity. Energetic vampirism is a common result of this type of the opposition in the chart. In the intimate sphere, it can be very exciting at first, but irritating in the end.

The next level type of the opposition between the two will provoke a healthy interest, an intense curiosity about the “otherness” of the other. Here, this opposition is already felt consciously as a tool to see one’s own opposite sides that have to unite. Sexually, it will have less physical intensity than in the first type of the opposition, but emotionally and sensually it may bring a vast spectrum of colours between the two. However, on the mental level, the two partners usually become pretty discerning and may be inclined to have a mental game (or manipulation) around each other's opposite sides. Depending on the planets, this game can be very resourceful, or exhausting. But usually, it will only lead these two to a more comprehensive understanding of themselves and the meaning of their partnership. 

And the ultimate level of the opposition would be a union. Here, both partners have accepted the opposite sides of the signs, where the synastry opposition is set, so well that their ability to enjoy this aspect creates the sense of integrity. Whether this is a unified outward action, the energy in the realm of feeling, or a sexual ritual, this opposition will feel like the most complete wholeness. Moon in Capricorn versus Moon in Cancer union will feel like the deepest emotional connection where a healthy structure holds an emotional blanket of another person, and both of them feel centred and deeply seen by each other. (The same aspect at the first level will give lots of tears, coldness and misunderstandings to both). 

The opposition of a Taurus Venus to a Scorpio Pluto at this level may create a union where the esoteric power becomes so harmonious and respectful to the material world of beauty that it creates something healing, earthly, but deeply transformative and sensually hypnotizing at the same time - be it a project, or an intimate act. On the lower level, however, this opposition is a synonym of obsession, jealousy, and lots of tears again … 

Remember, there is a middle point in any opposition.

On the higher level, this point is a golden ratio, where the two opposite qualities find its perfect balance. On the lower level, it is a grey zone where the opposite qualities mix in a chaotic fight.

Whether your synastry chart is playing out at the higher level, or the lower level, it is exactly what you need.

**I will start with the chart’s ascendant. Capricorn y’all are first 🐐

Capricorn ♑️ (public glow up)

You may have undergone major transformation this year (Pluto, Jupiter, Saturn in your 1st house). You are powerful (influential) during this time.

This month you may be focused on communications. Especially in the public forum.

Moon is in your natural 6th house. You may make revelations/discoveries at work or in your daily routine. In general, you will feel pulled to express your feelings about things. You may feel drawn to anything new and unconventional during this time. And may be investing your value and thought towards innovative things. You feel ambitious and intellectual like an Aquarius.

You may be expressing unconventional beliefs which will be different from your usual practical and stable expression. These may be perceived as rebellious, impractical or taboo, when in reality you are just speaking your mind. You are people’s stability so perhaps that’s why they will be critical of your new expressions. In reality your ideas are very appealing and groundbreaking (Venus in the chart’s 10th; your 11th). Your status is going through a glow up or a sudden transformation.

You are likely to be communicating and planting a lot of transformative seeds. Your status or work may be going through a transformation and you may be using your platforms for communication. Pay particular attention to others’ words. They hold a lot of subconscious insight for you during this time. Mercury is deep in your natural 12th house. You will may receive creative inspiration from communications.

People are experiencing changes in structure during this time and they may be holding you accountable for your past actions. Vice versa. Partners may be going through transformations, and you may be too (unconsciously).

The latter part of this year, you may have had to face many of your attachments. Maybe addictions, family drama or forms of self-sabotage. You’ve perhaps have massively increased your value & self-esteem (security) in the process.

Manipulators by the birth chart. What to look at?

Please note that the interpretations below mostly refer to the “low level” manifestation of a zodiac sign. If you don’t understand what “low level” for a zodiac sign means, please read some of my other articles. Especially this and this.

Also, the “levels” of manifestation of our planets placements can shift during our lifetime from on to another. Mostly not considerably, but sometimes - very much.

I also don't include the Lilith placements in this text, because it is manipulative by itself, but too weak to influence the chart without other planetary placements.

What makes a person a manipulator?

1. Significant Scorpio placements. Not necessarily Sun, mostly angle houses. Especially ASC. A Stellium in Scorpio. Pluto in Scorpio in the angle house. Especially the 4th/ IC (hidden manipulation) and the 10th /MC (open manipulation) are a gigantic sign! Often, these placements would indicate energetic vampirism. Here, manipulation is very much about the energy.

2. ASC or DSC in Aquarius, Aquarius Stellium. This is a mental manipulation, mostly. Playing with words and meanings more than with actions or energy. Lying without even blushing and looking very smart at the same time.

3. ASC, Mercury, or a Stellium in Pieces. Manipulation by creating confusion and then finding weak spots to turn the whole thing into a “right angle” for oneself. In the synastry chart, this is more than often expressed by lots of Neptune aspects.

4. Virgo Mercury, Venus, ASC, Stellium. Manipulation around details, and tiny details especially. Virgo Venus can also manipulate around “goodness”, “purity” and “spending not enough money” in the relationships of any kind.

5. Gemini Stellium, angle houses and Mercury in Gemini. Creating dubious situations, questioning everything, playing with words and meanings, being intentionally “super light” to emphasise something important. 

6. Leo ASC / DSC, Moon, Mercury (especially all of them at once!). Leo, in general, is NOT about manipulation, since they are “far above it”. But this is exactly the type of manipulation they tend to exercise. The “I am above it” attitude. “Pride above of all” situations that are aimed at making others feel guilty. Silent treatment or ignoring you as if you are a dust in the wind is very much the type of Leo manipulation. This is only true about the “low level” expression of the Leo sign, of course. 

7. Cancer stellium, Moon, ASC / DSC. The drama type manipulation. Playing with your emotions, but not intelligently. Can be rude and too expressive emotionally, but very needy underneath of it. 

8. Aries, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Taurus, Libra in general are NOT about the manipulation. Aries is too straightforward and raw, Sagittarius is too broad-minded, Capricorn is too serious and stiff, Taurus is too down to Earth, Libra is  about the balance more than anything else. But with some significant other placements in their charts - they can be great manipulators as well.  

All the placements above should be taken as a part of the entire picture, but with due attention to them.

Understanding the 4th house: natal and synastry

The 4th house is not easy to comprehend, and often not enough attention is paid to its interpretation. Reducing its meaning to “home, safety and one parent” completely discredits its merit in the entire picture, and leaves a vast area of ​​the natal chart almost opaque.

What is the 4th house indeed? And why is it so important to understand it when reading a chart, including the synastry?

The 4th house is the lowest point in the chart. Midnight.

The place where the border between the light and darkness lies. It is the point of the deepest foundations of one’s psychic universe. In fact, this is the place where psychotherapists and psychologists try to get, but most often they cannot, and end up in the 1st house. And this is a place where no one will consciously let another person in.

The 4th house represents not only the feeling of the inmost security, it contains all the data about a particular structure pattern inside of one’s psychic on which their universe is built. This is the basis of the spine, which runs through the entire chart up to the 10th house. The 4th house is the place where your inner voice lives. Looking at the sign and the planets in the 4th house, we can understand exactly how this voice of intuition sounds, what is your connection with it, and what it takes for you to hear this voice. 

The 4th house reflects the imprints that we received as a result of our after-birth condition and that have become the cornerstones of our sense of trust (or mistrust) to life. This is inevitably something upon which the huge part of our personality and all relationships are built. 

For some people, personal security is inherently linked with beauty and harmony (Venus/ Taurus/ Libra in the 4th house). For others, security means transformation and the ability to get to the depths (Scorpio/Pluto). Sometimes the security goes only with the sense of independence and freedom (Aquarius/ Uranus). Not rarely will the 4th house qualities remain a mystery for the person themselves until some good work is done on it. And it is almost impossible to work on the 4th house directly. 

The 4th house is the same area where we are entering during deep transpersonal experiences. In my work with plant medicine, in particular Ayahuasca, I was convinced more than once that all that is happening during the ceremony encompasses the 4th house domain, which is the reason why this work can be so disturbing but is unprecedentedly effective. Getting in touch with the material of their own 4th house, a person will not only experience fear, but the whole intensity of realising their own internal structure (or the absence of it), its flaws and disruptions, as well as its strengths and flawlessness. This contributes to the process which in psychotherapy is called "the integration of the personality”, or the return to the wholeness. Of course, all the houses of the natal chart are involved into this dynamics, but the footing lies precisely in the 4th house.

The same as a talented actor would have a strong 1st house, the good psychotherapist usually has an emphasised 4th house.

With all that in mind, the importance of this area in the synastry can’t be overlooked.

To begin with, it is hardly possible to imagine an intimate situation between the two where the 4th house would remain “switched off". The 8th house is invariably considered the house of sex, but never it is the only house involved at the moment of physical intercourse. The turning on of the 4th house occurs in all the transformational experiences including physical intimacy. Our openness to receive sexual pleasure and the ability to merge with another person are totally linked with our deepest security (the 4th house), which in many ways is unconscious for us ourselves. In addition, any sensual pleasure involves egoism, but NOT the egoism of the 1st house, or the 5th house, it is the egoism that is so elemental and even primitive that it is totally beyond our control. The 4th house egoism is almost animalistic.

The 4th house cannot be ignored when looking at the synastry of the two people whose relationships are meant to be long term. Not only it brings some structure into the relationships, but also reveals if these relations can endure time. The 4th house provides the basis and cements the connection.

Aspects to the 4th house that arise between the two may reveal the potential for the deepest healing (and deepest wounds as well) that one person can bring to another. This is the place where it is possible to get to the inner altar of another soul, to the sphere that the person who owns the 4th house does not know consciously themselves but feels its power in most life-changing events. 

It is especially favourable if the Venus and/or the Moon fall into the synastry 4th house. This can be an opportunity for a planet person to illuminate the 4th house person’s deepest fears with love and care, thus repeating the experience of unity with one of the parents, but in a more conscious form.

If we consider the 5th house to be the continuation, the body of the 4th, or the zone of “its possession”, then we see that, in fact, our personal creativity, our romantic preferences and our games (both in the childhood and and in the adulthood) are completely saturated with the material of the 4th house, i.e. our emotional imprints and our connection with the subconscious.

Neptune in SYNASTRY: death with no rebirth

Neptune may well be considered the most evil of all trans-Saturnian planets in its inauspicious aspects. As much as many love to prescribe this quality to Pluto (heavy, esoteric, ruled by Scorpio, has his own razor blade for microsurgeries of all kinds - HERE is more on this), yet it is the planet Neptune that will make you go crazy without even noticing. 

Neptune has a mysterious archetype. It is just as merciful as Jesus, and just as uncompromised (and alluring!) as a devil. It is 100% dubious. And even in its benevolent aspects, it leaves some slippery ground for a distortion. 

Neptune is the Water (capital W), and all the watery qualities are in his very domain. Deep, flowing, soft, embracing, heavy, disorganising, uncontrollable, everlasting … what else? Pervasive? 

Neptune is the force that you will not notice easily, but when you do - it may be too late.

In transits I consider Neptune’s inauspicious aspects the most karmic. They may not feel as hard as Pluto’s influence at times, but their long-lasting effect and the consequences can be massive. 

In transits, the healer for a difficult Neptunian aspect is the Saturn - discipline, austerity, dryness, inner axis. A strong Neptune is much more potent than a strong Saturn, but with some good acumen, one can still be able to swim out of the dense flow of Neptunian turmoil, if they wish. Neptune’s square to you natal crucial points may get your feet off the ground in a way that will remind you of a roundabout sickness. That feeling as if you are watching yourself from afar with no hope of ever get closer and make sense of what it is that you are really watching…

In synastry, the power game is totally different. 

Neptune strikes gently, but in all of its totality. As always, you will not notice it from the very beginning, and sometimes to the very end. 

The auspicious aspects of the synastry Neptune are not the subject of this text.

Neptune’s opposition, conjunction and square to your personal planets in the synastry have volumes to say, because not a single person in our lives comes without a lesson. Even with some good Saturnian qualities of the synastry, if the Neptunes' aspects are well emphasized, they will rule the game... Because this is how Neptune is -pervasive.

As with everything about the Neptune, these aspects will feel like magic at first. 

Cosmic inspiration, overwhelming tenderness, compassionate loving feelings, and the illusion of a higher connection will prevail over all other (reasonable) states of your being. Physical intimacy will either be happening on drugs and alcohol, or feel like a dissociation and may include some low level mental meditations (in the aspects to the gender planets especially). 

I consider conjunction (Neptune - gender planet) to be the most burdensome aspect since the natural quality of Neptune is to dilute. 

Here, the diluting may often feel like the worst hangover when the euphoria of the last night is no longer available, neither on the physical, nor on the emotional level, but the memory of it is still haunting and stealing lots of your energy. 

This feeling can be very common for a person whose Venus, Moon, Mars, or Sun is in the conjunction with Neptune in the synastry. It may also be the last feeling that you will feel once your relationships are done, and the sober part of you knocks back at your door.

Inauspicious aspects of Neptune in a synastry are always a powerful indicator that both or one of the two people are inclined to escape in the illusions. As much as the romantic love is an “alien planet” by itself, ANY Neptune aspect (but especially the inharmonious one) will only give it a more alien feeling. But not the Uranian (or Aquarius) quality of an "alien" when everything is very new and exciting, and a "human love" thing. The Neptunian alien feeling can be about fears of losing one’s own boundaries. It may be an illusion of a cosmic connection that may suddenly turn into chaos. It is a feeling of a nostalgic dream where you never wanted to wake up, but you knew you would, and when you did, it felt unbearable…. 

Neptune is the most difficult planet to concise. Not only on the higher planes, but on the material as well.

As much as it can indicate a huge amount of money in someone's natal chart, it can also be a hint of a devastating fall.

Death by the Neptunian rules is the death while in sleep, or while in the drug abuse, or while in orgasm, or while drowning in the ocean, or while going insane …

The same is its power in a synastry.

Inharmonious aspects in a synastry chart: Saturn and Uranus

A good way to look at the synastry chart is to see it as a transit. Our significant other is effecting our life events, emotional states, opportunities, and losses. With some people we heal, with others we only amplify our wounds, although both happen for a reason. In a transit chart the most important aspects are between the personal planets and the slow planets, i.e. Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto. All others move too fast to materialise any event or even an emotional state unless they are mirrored in progressions and solar directions. 

Challenging aspects (conjunctions, opposition, square) with the slow planets in a synastry are always a subject for a deeper understanding. They offer an opportunity for growth, although some of them may feel unbearable and bring separations.

Saturn.

Saturn’s main archetype is a teacher. It is austere, structuring, dry, and also cementing. Its fundamental principle is bringing to maturation. Saturn can feel like dying, so as the process of becoming elder. In synastry, when Saturn of your partner is making difficult aspects to your personal planets, it is causing a feeling of limitation in a sphere of this planet. The quality of this limitation is often perceived as rejection or coldness with a purpose of controlling your personal planet. However, not in a dominating Plutonian way, but in a way a teacher would control a child to help a structure take a better from in a certain zone of his/her growth. For gender planets it can be extremely hard and frustrating. And it is always the most severe aspect for the Moon.

In fact, many consider Saturn’s difficult aspects to be the most problematic in a synastry. Even though the three other planets can bring much more uncontrollable forces, but the Saturn is demanding discipline. And the discipline is something that requires personal effort, consistency, and lots of restraint. While it can be very healing sometimes, there are also domains where discipline feels irrelevant. Moon is a good example. A partner’s Saturn making an unpleasant aspect to your Moon may cause a feeling of guilt over your emotions and unconscious impulses. Irrespective of your Moon’s sign, it will feel uncomfortable and tiresome. Even if the rest of your synastry chart is full of benevolent aspects, the inauspicious Saturn - Moon aspect will be very exhausting at times. Unlike with other personal planets (Venus and Mars), here Saturn is not always perceived as a teacher or as an architect of another’s person energy. How can someone be a teacher of your subconscious material (even for the most spiritually advanced people)? Here, Saturn is a pure karma that you only have to learn how to deal with if these relationships are cherished. My personal experience with such an aspect (conjunction) was one of the most burdensome. The feeling of judging myself for my emotions and spontaneous reactions when being near the Saturn person was sometimes very poignant. I was constantly revisiting my inner movements and reporting to myself whether or not they are “ok”. In fact, it made me feel like a child, but not in a good way. Although in the end those relationships did bring me a sense of meaningful internal growth, including in my emotional sphere, they also dried up my feelings and made me want to restrict my emotions every time we were together. Still both of us have an impression that we will meet again one day and things will be better (Saturn’s cementing effect). 

Uranus. 

Uranus is a planet associated with a lightning flash. Its action is abrupt, shocking, irreversible. If the dying under Saturn is a steady decline, under Uranus it is a sudden and unexpected stroke that doesn’t care about the consequences. Uranus’s lesson is the unpredictability of everything in life. It can wipe off completely and leave you in an overwhelming shock. 

In its challenging aspects of a synastry, Uranus’s key principle is the same as in the transit. It changes the state of things abruptly from one to another without a compromise. This is the reason this planet is also associated with “love from the first sight”. Something striking is happening inside of one of the two people (or both), and the condition is changed completely. The previous state of things is no longer possible. The world has become totally new. It is now illuminated by the spark of love. 

This is true about both the challenging aspects and the benevolent, with a difference that trine or sextile will not imply the energy of further possible break - up in a couple. 

Uranus inharmonious aspects can be associated with relationships where the energy is highly electric, but also eccentric. If lived at the lower level, this type of energy will suggest constant “glitches” in the loving feelings of both, the “on and off” tendency, and sometimes the frivolous character of connection. If the Uranus person has this planet really emphasised in their chart, the thirst for independence, new experiences or sometimes perversities will be on their side. And if not met properly from their partner will cause irritation and even anger. 

However, on a higher level, the Uranus aspect (even square or opposition) will bring lots of mental stimulation that will cause recognising the additional levels of freedom between the two. This may be freedom of spirit, the freedom from the conventional, the liberating element that unifies rather than separates. Although the disharmonious aspects often hint that the relationships have an unstable quality, if this is not supported by more aspects in the charts, it may play out in the relationships being extremely extraordinary, mind-bending, sometimes even spiritual, depending on the personal planet that receives the aspect by Uranus and the personal charts of the two. Venus receiving an aspect of opposition or square is a sign of many experiments (and even risks) in the sensual domain, but also in esthetics. Mars can be quite uncontrollable but explicitly creative in a sparkling way which will fill the relationships with the energy of exploration of life and consciousness in particular. The same is true about Mercury - Uranus. At the lower level, however, this aspect suggests constant and impulsive fighting.

Moon aspects are the most challenging ones. If the Moon person is too stiff to allow more freedom to their emotional sphere (including the intimate), they will feel insecure and deeply disturbed. The Uranus person will vice versa feel like the other one is clingy and not allowing them to explore spontaneity on a level of the emotional patterns. But unlike the Saturn aspects, Uranus doesn’t bring heaviness into the relationships. Shocks, disruptions, experiments, even perversions, but also the higher states of mind are its fundamental traits. Uranus can also be a sign of bisexuality in the charts where it is aspecting gender planets (Venus, Mars). Some same- sex friendships may feel like hanging between love / sex and friendship when one of the two people (or both) have angle houses or many aspects to their gender planets from Uranus. Such "Uranian" friendships are often very memorable because of its romantic quality, and the exciting mental stimulation that happens between the two. Not rarely, it finishes abruptly (with inharmonious aspects) but stays with you forever.

The essence and the healing power of the opposition aspect in your chart

Reading natal chart is an art of seeing the details from a helicopter view. To learn how to see the whole picture, you need to make sense of the game that takes place between the opposites. As soon as this principle becomes clear, you get to see that the entire chart is built on it.

Fragmented reading of the natal chart is just as inadequate as cutting out a small piece of the photo, for example, the left eye, scaling it up to the full frame and assuming that you are looking at a portrait of a person. Unfortunately, this is how we often perceive each other outside of astrology. In that sense, natal chart is a tool that helps us broaden this view.

So … the opposites. There are at least six of them in the natal chart. With a more experienced vision, there is more, but this is not the subject of this text.

Every house has an opposing one. If both houses hold planets, then the opposition would be especially pronounced. But even if there are no planets, both houses are still supposed to work on the full spectrum of the two signs, and this must be clear when you are reading the chart.

For example, the Aquarius-Leo spectrum fully reflects the quality of one’s self-realisation in the world.

Leo is a symbol of self-expression, healthy individualism, and a passionate love for life. However, at a low level, Leo will manifest selfishness, pathetic arrogance, and pretension. All of which not only cannot lead but also run counter to the concept of self-realisation.

Aquarius is a symbol of originality, true independence, and universal love. But at a low level, Aquarius may show trivial permissiveness, indifferent detachment from everything, and stupid eccentricity.

As I already mentioned many times, the chart interpretation depends entirely on the “level of development” of a person (soul level) whose chart is under review. Describing how this level is determined is a complex task. Besides the intuitive feeling that one can get when looking at the chart, the right guiding tool is to remember that the level of a person is largely determined by their questions. Plus, many individual planetary aspects will always give us a hint of where exactly at their stage of development they might be.

A comprehensive analysis of the opposites in one’s chart can tell everything. Especially when some planets are not playing out predictably. For example, Mars in Leo can be infinitely irresponsible, and profoundly indifferent (low Aquarius in the opposition). And someone with ASC in Aquarius can be terribly charismatic and radiant (strong Leo in the opposition). A person with Venus in Scorpio can greatly appreciate material aesthetics and absolutely tangible comfort (strong Taurus), while Mars in Taurus, on the contrary, will suddenly be loopy, intoxicating and caustic (low Scorpio).

The game of the opposites in each of us occurs most often unconsciously and is multi-layered. Sometimes it is so subtle that it is impossible to trace how the principle of a planet changes its color to the opposite one. Remember, there is a middle point in any opposition. On the higher level, this point is a golden ratio, where the two opposite qualities find its perfect balance. On the lower level, it is a grey zone where the opposite qualities mix in a chaotic fight.

It is not rare a case, that the opposite side of a sign will manifest itself at a lower (most radical) quality. If the opposite of a higher quality is manifested, this is just a sign of that very “inner soul level”. The highest level will be the ability to consciously switch from one quality of the opposition spectrum to another, or the discernment to trace when these switches of the two opposite qualities happen.

For example, someone with Venus in Libra, choosing what to wear for a date, will lie out three or four different clothing options in front of them, and take some time to weigh all the pros and cons of each. If there is an acute awareness of the presence of the opposite sign at this moment (which is an inner instinct, astrology has nothing to do with it), then at some point they will stop and say: “Ok, THIS is one!” This is how Aries (the opposite sign) turns on abruptly and makes an impulsive decision, which, however, was well considered. If there is no such awareness, then this person will end up comparing their three or four clothing options almost to the point of mental exhaustion, and end up choosing something just to get it done, but may not be satisfied by their choice… although given that the Venus is in Libra, others will most likely find it elegant.

This is the essence of the game of the opposites in the chart. Many “astrological observations" that do not take this into account are just entertainment for the brain. Although some of them may sound true, the way they manifest themselves can be completely reversed. 

Another good way to look at it is to remind ourselves that any of your uncomfortable qualities can be fine- tuned through the use of the opposite sign and its configurations. This principle is perfectly reflected by the Nodes. Using the experience of one sign, we are developing the opposite qualities to accomplish what we call our soul mission.

The opposition as a synastry aspect should be viewed exactly in the same way and has this very purpose of putting two people together. But this will be a different article.

Perhaps the only thing that does NOT manifest itself in its opposition is Lilith. She is an energy funnel, and reveals herself only in one-sided nature. This is her essence. That is why she creates obsessive states and events. Whether or not her impact is really felt depends on the aspects. However, if she is well realised by her owner, this will soften her effect.
