DEEP BREATH
One of the top reasons I love Kaiden/Darius is they're both. Older brothers who I feel would do almost anything for their younger sibling.
Sure Noxian Kaiden didn't go into hiding with his sister and keep her from dying. But he did go and become a soldier in order to make sure her and their mother would be able to keep their home and farm, and he tried to protect their father while in service as well.
Kaiden may not be intensely loyal to Noxus in the same way Darius is, but he is intensely loyal to his Family. Darius can relate to that, as Draven is... All Darius has left of family.
They're both messes in their own ways, and Kaiden tries to help Darius realize that there is more to life than just. Bloodshed and war.
Of course once Kaiden was captured, tortured and then escaped, he was forced to go back to civilian life and it's. Insanely difficult at first. He's missing an arm, his leg has a limp and his back is slightly messed up.
Not to mention the nightmares, and flashbacks he has.
Darius might be considered an asshole, but I firmly believe he has a heart in there, it's just that in Noxus, such things can be considered a weakness, and thus he attempts to harden himself as much as he can. If he doesn't let anyone in, they can't hurt him nor use him. It only got worse after Quill.
Kaiden realizes he's just hurt, and has been damaged by a very toxic and abusive system. Noxus is all Darius has, but maybe in the end he can be shown that there are some faults to it's systems.
