The question causes you to start— as you were staring at the holotape absentmindedly— and turn towards your companion; who’s green eyes, that were normally sharp, were softened exponentially. One of his gloved hands outstretched towards you.

“You don’t have to,” he continues, as if your silence was all the answer he needed. “I just know this holomovie creeps me out.”

Your brow raises— even if you could feel the smile that was beginning to creep onto your face— as an airy laugh escapes you. “And you think I’ll be able to protect you.”

He shrugs. “No, but I know that your presence will make it better.” Ducking his, his hair obscuring his features from view, an airy chuckle of his own escapes. “You always make me feel better when you’re nearby.”

With his answer— not that you had any doubt about what you were going to do— solidifying your response, your hand easily slots into his still proffered one. Your fingers intertwining in an embrace that you’ve shared many times before. The feeling of your hand in his causes Elaire to glance up; the brightness in his eyes warming your heart.

“You make me feel better too.”

He simply brings your joined hands to his lips; his response, the emotions welling within his eyes, being louder than any statement he could ever speak.

And that’s all that you needed.

I'm so glad we met at this intersection of our lives. It was along time coming. I do get jealous that you grown and are trying to have these connections and adult conversations with your potential partner. It was something we couldn't have many years ago.

But with that I'm grateful we are friends now. I'm here for you. Our conversations are meaningful and only we can understand what they really mean to us. I am grateful to have what I have with you. It's unique and at the same complicated but with alot of understanding. I love you for that.
