I still can’t get past the opening scene in Leverage for the Deep Space Leverage au, even just looking at the transcript, because of this line:

“ Nate (slams glass down): You know that part of the conversation where I punch you in the neck nine or ten times? We’re coming up on that pretty quick.”

I mean...that’s freaking Garak and Dukat, in a nutshell. And I just imagined drunk Garak (looking at you, The Wire) kicking Dukat’s butt while so impaired, and I started laughing too hard.

Deep Space Leverage

You already know

Weyoun 5 = Hurley --Not ACTUALLY a bad guy --Does good things for the team (in a roundabout way) --He tried his best --nobody trusts him at first --many people want to kill him -team helps him

Brunt = CHAOS/Collin --bad guy --everybody loves to hate him --helps the team ONCE --keeps coming back as a bad guy --bad aim (lol...trying to kill Sophie vs. accidentally killing Keevan)

Vorta = the lackeys of Moreau’s criminal network --Weyouns, Keevans, the other Vorta we see, all part of Moreau’s/Female Founders web of villainous lackeys (I love the word lackey)

Except possibly...:

Weyoun = the Mako (??) --long line of confidence tricksters --No mercy --concerned with living up to legacy/Founder’s wishes (not as big of a fan as this one, but it was a thought)

Dr. Mora = Archie --screwed up “his” kid (by genetic modification ) --not a great guy --comes around like twice --gets in trouble and needs to be saved at some point -I know Mora was Odo’s disappointing and terrible father, but it may work better for the DSL universe if Mora was Julian’s thievery mentor, and he still had his parents. Not entirely sure how that would work out, but that’s what free time is made for. Figuring out conflicting headcanons.

Enabran Tain = Jimmy Ford --speaking of disappointing fathers, this parallel dropped out of the sky as well --my brain is failing me and I can’t find my notes, but please fill in your own blanks on this one

Tekeny Ghemor = DB Cooper --lifelong search  --old guy --switched sides --(this one was also just kind of ridiculous, but it felt really sweet)

This one is more of a joke, but I made Nog=McSweeten solely because I wanted Rom to be McSweeten’s Dad. And I didn’t want to split up Nog and Rom in the DSL universe.

Thought about Morn as Taggert...but then I thought hmm, what if Morn was just “the silent partner” in one of the team’s adventures? (Then I died laughing again).

@nerdfishgirl just some more thoughts. Possibly all of them? We’ll see haha.

Deep Space Leverage

Some more thoughts!

Female Founder = Moreau --the head of a giant link/chain of an organization (criminal organization) --no scruples of morality (besides no changeling has ever harmed another) --behind the scenes enemy they aren’t aware of at first --sees people/followers as expendable --would shoot your ear off and then ask with no hostility whatsoever if you’d like to stay for dinner

Quark owns the bar the team has put their headquarters above. (Quark would be more active than in the Leverage universe equivalent). -Garak has a substance abuse problem in the beginning, so this fits, even though we usually see Damar as the one with the problem first. -In this crossover, Garak is the functional alcoholic who is sometimes a little too reckless because he’s on a high all the time from drinking -Quark is the middle man (for a fee, of course) setting up people who need help and the team --The “fee” is that the team legitimizes his more illegal ventures under Odo/Bonano’s nose

Odo = Detective Bonano --He walks the line --Honest cop -BUT: willing to take the strangely neatly tied up “anonymous tips” --Friendship between Odo/Garak and Nate/Bonano is REAL --Gets messed up by bad guys but comes back stronger than ever, later

If Garak is Nate, then Mila is Maggie: --occasionally helps them run cons as an innocent, unassuming third party whose deception isn’t detected until too late --both Garak and Nate would not want Mila/Maggie involved, but Mila/Maggie would ignore that and help anyway

Additional Thoughts: --With Kira, Julian, and Mile all becoming Eliot, Parker, and Hardison, the OT3 bromance/romance could be just as strong as in leverage. This would also highlight the mentor mentee relationship between Nate and Parker as Garak and Julian too. --Sophie as Jadzia is free to flirt and date around exactly as she wishes, with only her complicated past getting in the way sometimes (I’ve got an asterisk in my notes with a winky face emoji right there asking ‘see what I did there’) --The mentor/mentee relationship between Nate and Parker and Garak and Julian are all still there --Garak, who constantly chaoches and directs Julian discreetly. Helps the other discover other skills they hold, especially as possibly eventually leading the team

@nerdfishgirl these are a little all over the place, but basically when I thought of these I flipped out a little and laughed for too long. Especially over Odo/Bonano, for some reason

I can’t even get three minutes in because the first scene would be Garak sitting at a bar and Dukat coming up to him and smirking/groveling hiss way into asking Garak for help. And Garak, destroyed as he is, would only do it because it has the potential to get him back in the good books of the Cardassian state. 

But like. In that scene alone, Nate threatens to smash Dubenich in the face using the bartop as the tool and like...that’s freaking hilarious. Because without even knowing each other, Nate has just started their relationship off on the same note that Dukat and Garak already have.

Like, I’m sitting with my Word doc open next to my netflix but, I’m laughing too much to keep writing. 

Typing that first scene out and getting a rough idea of what the in-universe actions for Deep Space Leverage would be are cracking me up too much.

Sophie/Jadzia’s names:

In Leverage it is the running thing that no one knows Sophie’s true name.  But Jadzia is never shy about telling you all about her past hosts

In the crossover, what if it is that the Dax symbiant isn’t the only true name? That the symbiant has two names, and that is the closely held secret between Jadzia and the others. Similar to how Garak  would never just reveal his name to anyone, Jadzia (and all previous hosts of Dax) hold the closely guarded secret, except for their most intimate friends/spouse. But it’s also a trust thing with her.

(Idk, just possibilities to keep things the same, but different. And interesting)

I’m gonna re-watch the first episode of Leverage and try to see how the characters fall into place in the crossover.
