In early March, 2025, a man was fired from NASA after setting fire to the break room in the midst of what onlookers described as "an absolute crashout". Thanks to his few remaining professional connections and a generous referral, he landed a position maintaining a remote deep space signal outpost.
His family protested, claiming that absolute isolation would only worsen his condition and likely end in the man being devoured by a bear, cougar, or particularly agitated park ranger.
They needn't worry. The man will be anything but alone.
