Her Eyes
I wonder if when you look at me you see her? What do I say that echoes her voice? What parts of my face remind you? My genetics can't be helped. Do you tear up in sweet melancholy? Or are those tears of loss? A runaway bride. Who discarded us for another. I look in the mirror and wonder, Does my existence pain you? A constant reminder of that love. That dream. That betrayal. That loss. When you look into my eyes, Do you see the same ones that held your gaze, As you discovered her infidelity? My mouth, Is it the same one that lied, 'Till death do us part?' She is a part of me. You are a part of me. An embodiment of a sacred bond.
