“Uh….?“
That wasn’t what she had expected. Not at all. How in the world did they get from first expressions to this sort of statement? It was too bold, too cold to be really coming from Taeyeon, at least the one Yoona knew of. Maybe she used to be different? Or was she kidding around again?
Either way, it effectively stunned Yoona into silence. She just sat there and stared, eyes wide and mouth slightly agape, Whatever this statement was supposed to tell her or do to her, it definitely ended up having an impact on the actress. Unsure of what to say, she simply remained silent, just knowing that Taeyeon would do her best to explain or undo her words as soon as she noticed how taken aback the younger was.
For a lenghty period of time, Taeyeon remained still, herself stunned by her own words. Regularly, it wasn’t a child’s play for her to speak out her mind when special persons’ feelings were involved, hence her own boldness astonished her as much, if not more, than it did to Yoona. The air became thick with tension and for a mere moment, the older sensed her lungs unable to function. The atmosphere had her paralyzed, perceiving every breath with amplification. An inner debate was worn inwardly; partly, she was content she had managed to open her mouth and spill, though on the other hand, she despised her own guts that brought her in the current situation.
After a while of letting her friend wait, she turned her glance towards her in slow motion, as though afraid of repercussions. A quick scan of the other’s facial expression and she became aware of how close she was to screwing up. Taeyeon found herself between the need to slip between excuses and the desire to explain herself in order to fix the misunderstanding.
“I mean...” the pressure made it impossible for her not to pause and inhale deeply, then wet her lips with a sip of the tea she had been previously mixing as a distraction. “You were stunning, Yoona. You had always been. Tall and slim, great skin, chiseled features. You were a good dancer, still unexperienced but good. You were friendly with everyone. You had all the qualities a diva kind of girl would posses and I was scared I’d have to live the rest of my life in a group with an arrogant chick. I wasn’t capable, at that time, to judge all the perspectives and I thought I would have to relive the high school experience. Gratefully, you turned out to be so much better.” after finishing speaking, she cleared her throat as if it had been clenching all the while, with every thought that she left out. “I think I misworded my opinion before. I am sorry I had you shocked.”
