I don't think iv'e ever felt as happy as I do

With my career choice. I love the progress iv'e been making, and the pace im moving at. I'm working at my own pace, and when i feel comfortable doing so. 

Iv'e finally come to a conclusion on what i want to do next to finish my training. I want to do my Level 3 in Hairdressing after i complete my level two, and then progress onto Beauty Therapy Level 2. I'm so excited for my future, can't bloody wait! 

Hairstylist, Makeup Artist AND Beautician! My dream career <3

UPDATE TIME | Workout and weight loss

Heyy! Been a long time since ive written a blog post. A lot has happened since then...

Workout and weightloss

I have finally made changes to my diet which was slowly getting more and more unhealthy. Since i started working, ive been buying my lunch more frequently as the weeks go by and ive started to notice my belly getting bigger and me feeling more and more sluggish. So i asked my boyfriend for some help on how to lose weight on my stomach and how write a proper meal plan. Today I cooked some chow mein, low fat of course, and some black bean and garlic flavoured tofu which i will eat with a small portion of rice, for this week. this should last me up to wednesday or thursday. On friday and saturday im going to have soup with water crackers. The only drinks i will be drinking is water and green tea. Fruit as snacks/ deserts after dinner.

I started yesterday (17/11/12) by doing the plank for two minutes... but i didnt last that long. i lasted 51 seconds. Which i think is good considering it was my first time doing it. The four times after that i was just over 30 seconds. 

Today i did a few workouts what i found via youtube.

I feel really determined to loose this weight more than ever! I can see ive gained weight in the last two months and its only making me feel more self conscience.

I watched a few vids on P90x and how well it can work if you commit to your worouts and your diet. i might try that after this. i plan on working out daily and sticking to this meal plan for four weeks. Then i'll decide what to do next.

I'm so in need of some retail therapy!

As soon as i feel satisfied with my hairdressing kit that is it! New clothes, heels, coat and hair! (All for work since the only day i have off is Sunday)

But i'm defo treating myself to some new hair though! Don't wanna be messing about with my hair too much this winter. Just co-wash every week, shampoo every two weeks and do a conditioning treatment every three - four weeks. 

And then i'll buy some more stuff for my kit and then work on my professional makeup kit.

Start building up my portfolio's and advertising my services. Whoo! Spend spend spend! Its a lot but it'll be worth it. 

Ive jst ordered my basic haidressing kit for college as well as my college uniform.

Things to get for my hairdressing kit:

- Plastic rollers (all sizes)

- Velcro rollers (all sizes)

- Bendy rollers/ Flexi rods (all sizes)

- Sectioning clips

- Hair pins

- Hair nets

- Hair ties and elastic hooks

- Denman brushes

- Strong combs or carbon combs

- Cutting combs

- Curling tongs or Marcel tongs (haven't decided yet)

- Tint brushes

- Hair sprays (assorted hold)

- Good quality hair scissors

- Scalp oils

- Leave-in conditioning treatments

This list is mainly based on if were to do someones hair for my portfolio if they wanted a nice up do or something, nothing to technical. I'll work on my mobile hairdressing kit after.

hairdressing update #3!

This is my third week of being on this course. Last wednesday i recieved a letter from the college about my hairdressing kit and uniform; they want me to have it all by the 23rd October 2012! I was so angry when i read it! How do they expect me to get £250 already? Do they not think we have things to pay for? I have rent to pay, and not to mention travel fees! Thankfully my boyfriend said he'll help me out. Im so thankful for him! 

The rest of the week i started to notice a few things at work that i didnt pick up on straight away. At first i thought i the salon was a little unorganised but i guess i thought all salons are like that. But they're not. And the thing is, when the stylists have finished treating/ setting/ finishing the clients hair, they leave everything for me to clean?! Is that right? Do i have a right to moan? I mean, i know im an apprentice but my role isn't to clean up after people, im here to learn how to be a hairdresser; to learn and practice things the right way. I swear if it wasn't for me cleaning out the used relaxer and dye out of the tint bowls and cleaning the combs brushes they wouldn't be clean! Not to mention the backwash sinks. I feel like my boss is using me because im not fully qualified. I had to clean the bathrooms. Not necessarily for public use and to make them look good, but to clean out all of the hair that they throw into the the shower cubicle. Like, why would you do that?? why not put it in the bin, its disgusting! Like, seriously??

and another thing, iv'e noticed a few things about my boss too. She tends to belittle some of the staff in front of the clients. 

I didn't have such a good day at work last week. I felt like a bit of a spare part. Plus i feel like the college has totally fucked me over! The course im on does not cater for all hair types, only European hair. And although my salon caters for al hairtypes 95% of the clients are afro-carribbean!  :( So im most likely gonna have to find another salon, that caters for european hair. There may be a way around it, but we'll see. I can still have a few of my units signed of here, such as washing & conditioning hair, health and safety within the salon, and maybe colouring and perming hair (european that is)

Hairdressing Update #2!

Heyyyy! Second week of hairdressing now! Whoop whoop!

Had such a great first week! learnt so much, did my first colour (roots only), did some braiding and a whole bunch of washing and conditioning. I haven't learnt as much as my friends at college but im new to hairdressing and i think at the right pace for me. I was very nervous about washing and conditioning clients' hair because i only had the theory i had gain from college behind me, but once i had done it i felt so confident that i about my progress and was able to take in knowledge from my colleagues as i went on. I got paid on Saturday  and payed in the cheque on Monday and the money was in my account today... amazing! it usually takes at least three days for a cheque to clear. So I'm very happy about that.

Next week Tuesday is the deadline to have my college salon uniform ordered by. I want to order my kit too, but i don't think i'll be able to. I'd most likely have to wait until the week after. My friend's boss is gonna help her buy her kit from the wholesalers instead of having to get the college one, which is around £80 cheaper! I'm gonna ask my boss if she can help me out but if not i'm just gonna get the college one because i cannot afford to waste my opportunity and time on saving money if its gonna affect my learning. I want to be able to practice the techniques i learn each week every day so that i can master if and be ready for my assessments and observations at work = finishing college quicker! Once i have my kit, i can then put towards hot tools for my kit and start buying pallets for my makeup artistry kit. Cant bloody wait! ^_^

What i did at college today:

Blow drying European hair bone straight, straightening hair straight, adding volume with a round brush and blow dryer and curling with tongs. I can successfully say i have mastered the art of blow drying with a round brush. As well as tonging. My first time using curling tongs and i mastered it straight away! Go me! :D

Tomorrow marks my second week at work, i'm looking forward to it! :)

Vlog #1: 30/12/11

NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS AND ME

I’ve never really been one for New Years resolutions. I mean, yeah i’ve tried and failed many times. But i think thats more so down to my parents forcing me to do so and me not really caring about changing my habits. But this year i will set myself a few that i will carry out successfully;

1. Cut down on my laziness

2. Take more interest in college and stay focused on my goal (DDD and becoming a nurse)

3. Improve my fitness & health and loose my jelly belly

- Eat more healthy and nutritious food, cut back on the fast food

4. Find a job and save at least £200 this year

5. Make my parents proud

6. Go on road trips!

7. To vlog a hell of a lot more & do more youtube videos

8. Relocate my creative side!

9. Turn my living space into my personal space. Make it my own!

And most of all, 

10. HAVE FUN!
