Life During Infowar Time [UFOverdriver]
2011: WIKILEAKS CHANGES HISTORY. HERE'S WHY:
Because the millions of Wikileaks supporters in the world started doing something on Valentine's Day weekend in 2011, as Julian Assange fought extradition to Sweden in a London courtroom.
Why this weekend? Well.. you'll see. The logistics are better seen than explained and I really want to talk about the result, anyway.
Hundreds of thousands of people are going to start doing something to materially support Wikileaks. You can understand that people are consumed by their own lives, even if they have been obsessed with Wikileaks: The Internet Show. They've got their own problems. They've been trained to consume and vegetate, maybe. They can't think of anything useful that they could do. NOT ANY MORE.
Common sense is going to roll right over the bastards. These bastards are speaking nonsense (incidentally, the goal here is to make sure "bastards" is the most common word used on crushing bastards . net). While authors like Glenn Greenwald have written passionate and thorough examinations in support of Bradley Manning, Julian Assange, Wikileaks (both as a concept and the organization itself), there has not been one coherent voice to offer anything close to a reasonable criticism. This hasn't stopped opportunists from trying their best to downplay the concrete evidence of war crimes committed at the highest levels of the US military command, as released into the public domain by Wikileaks. Not one person, as far as I know, has even attempted to explain why these suspects-in-uniform are not being actively investigated.
In the year 2011, we start chasing them around. I expect to see US military officers scrambling from one national jurisdiction to another as they try to find a country that will risk giving them asylum.
We're done holding back. There's no need for hesitation or uncertainty. The pro-Wikileaks, pro-Julian position is a matter of human rights that affects every journalist on the face of the earth.
We can start treating ourselves to an occasional lashing of these OpenLeaks dicks. We'll stop being afraid that any drama will distract from the important work of Wikileaks. That's something Julian + others have to be disciplined about, in the interest of propriety. But, that's them, I'm me and I've been ready to talk frankly about the cowardly, opportunistic and disgraceful behavior of the rats who almost sabotaged one of history's most important journalistic events only for their own petty self-interests. Daniel Domscheit-Berg, in particular, has a long-overdue dose of reality coming. This week, we've seen again that Deutsch Dan will use any chance he gets to promote himself, even if it means kicking Julian when he's down ... a tasteful move that Dan pulled when Julian was arrested in December and again this week while Julian faces extradition to Sweden. Ironically, it was Deutsch Dan who proclaimed to the world that Julian's brush with the law in Stockholm had nothing to do with Wikileaks and, since then, Dan has been utterly proven wrong by each new piece of evidence that comes to light. Julian's case is becoming the most egregious case of prosecutorial misconduct in Swedish history and Dan joins the tiny group of blowhards that support the Swedish prosecutor. What a fine qualification for someone asking the public and whistleblowers to trust him!
We can all take comfort in the fact that every time Dan looks at his rat-fink book, he'll remember the terrific dread he felt that day when he realized that there wouldn't be any book unless the publishers got their way: Julian Assange's name would be all over the cover.
Without Dan's dispute with Julian, who the hell is he? Nobody. He makes Alan Taylor look like a rock star.
Finally: millions of people around the world will have the chance to do something and many of them will take that opportunity.
This organization does not let anyone hang out to dry.
— Julian Assange, 24 October 2010, moments before walking out on a CNN interview
The above quote is the position of any serious organizer. Julian, Bradley or anyone else in Wikileaks that suffers retribution from power gluttons is entitled to a global campaign of support.
In 2010, Wikileaks represented the best of the worldwide information resistance and gave incontrovertible, real-world meaning to the "information is power" slogan. In 2011, as Cablegate leaks on, we will show that support for Wikileaks and Julian Assange is the global majority opinion and we will show how solidarity works in the 21st Century.
