Summary: In which a client, who wishes to remain anonymous, requests that you find out the truth about who killed Benjamin Rifkin. Not only do you learn just that, but somehow you find yourself twisted in the cobwebs of the secrets the Barber family hide.

The funeral of Jacob Barber was most likely the saddest scene you had ever experienced. Although your sight was taken from you at a young age, you were more than aware of the fact that there were few people in attendance. It seemed that the town was still set on their stance of the young boy having been guilty of murdering Benjamin Rifkin, even after the confession from Leonard Patz.
It truly baffled you really. A known pedophile confesses to the murder of a young boy and the towns people weren’t eating that up? Something didn’t smell right.
You couldn’t help but wonder why they were so certain of Jacobs involvement, especially since the information you had discovered proved otherwise. Was it because they were aware of the crimes committed by his estranged Grandfather? Or was it simply because they were too proud to admit they were wrong?
Snapping out of your thoughts, the sound of shuffling and farewells informed you that the small crowd was dispirsing, leaving you alone with a somber looking Andy Barber. You assumed he was hoping for a private moment to say goodbye, so you remained seated in silence, giving him time before you attempted to breach a conversation.
Though it seemed the grieving man had other plans…
“You not taking off with the rest of them?” Andy grumbled, refusing to tare his gaze away from the hole in the ground.
You were completely mortified at being caught lingering. This was the first time that a light had been shined on the shadows you camouflaged yourself into. You weren’t used to being detected as you normally went under the radar, yet this man had spotted you easily and that slightly intimidated you.
“Yeah well, my mother taught me that you should never leave the vulnerable alone as you never know what they might end up doing.”
Releasing a sigh, Andy tilted his head a little to the left, unable to hold eye contact with you as you were seated directly behind him. “I’m not going to kill myself.”
“I know that, you know that, but does mummy dearest know that?” You humoured, receiving a snort in return. “Besides, you and I have a lot we need to discuss.”
At this, the male twisted fully in his seat to face you. It was then he noticed how incredibly attractive you were, he just wished those sun blockers laid upon your nose disappeared so he could see your eyes. He had a feeling they were just as beautiful as the rest of you.
Snapping out of his shock, Barber raised his eyebrows at your statement. “No offence sweetheart, but I doubt either of us have anything we might want to say to each other.”
“I’m gonna have to disagree.” You smirked. “You see, not so long ago I was hired by an unknown source. Imagine my surprise when they requested I look into the Jacob Barber case.”
Realisation set itself upon the brunettes face. “Your a P.I.”
“A darn good one too!” With that being said, you removed the hard drive from your right thigh high boot. “I had so many ideas on what I wanted to do with this little guy, yet only one idea stood out.”
Gulping, Andy looked towards the ground. “And what idea would that be?”
If you weren’t at his sons funeral, maybe you would of dwelled on the tension a little. However, the look in his eyes struck at your heart strings, causing you to feel remorse for your previous attitude.
“Why give it to you silly!” You giggled.
The confession wasn’t what had his head snapping up from the ground, it was the innocence that came after it. He’d never heard a sound so sweet and it made him feel guilty at the feelings that were sparked within him as he sat mere cm from where his son laid.
