No matter what your defensive weapon of choice is, the government has probably gotten involved and made laws for it.
Don't carry a weapon "just for show." If you carry a defensive weapon, no matter what type of weapon it is, you should be ready (trained) and willing (mentally prepared) to use your defensive weapon if you are attacked or threatened.
