Heavy footsteps echoed off the tiled flooring as the Moroi sprinted his way down the hallway. Onlookers stopped to watch, craning their necks to find the source of the commotion. Others had to practically dive out of his way lest they be mowed down by six feet of lean muscle. Breath heavy, eyes wild, Adrian bee-lined it for the library, not stopping for anything, even the indignant shouts of “Watch out where you’re going !”
The doors to the library flung open in a sudden boom that shattered the peaceful silence of the studying students. ❝ Sydney ! ❞ Adrian came skidding to a halt just in front of her table. Every pair of eyes in the room was on him, waiting to hear what had happened. ❝ Come quick ! I-it’s the Ivashkinator ! ❞
Twenty minutes earlier, Adrian had been lounging on his couch, flipping through different channels on the TV and contemplating the merits of watching Real Housewives of Beverly Hills over doing his homework. That’s when his phone buzzed. It was an SOS from Jill –– something he took very seriously. Apparently the Melrose family was worried about Sydney’s well being. As in, she seemed more tightly wound than usual –– which was definitely saying something. According to Jill, she hadn’t left the library all day, even though it was Saturday. They decided it was time to act –– time to employ Adrian’s specific skill set : which included whisking girls away to have a good time.
Although this was no ordinary girl. This was Sydney Sage, and Adrian knew it would take the big guns to get her nose out of a book.
A pool had already been forming in the Melrose family text chat ( the one that didn’t include their den mother, Sydney ), as to how many words Adrian would get out after mentioning the Ivashvinator before she cut him off and raced outside. Of course, the yellow Mustang was in peak condition, parked safely outside the Amberwood library at that very moment. But as far as Adrian saw it, Sydney’s sanity was on the line, and he was going to come to her rescue no matter the cost.
❝ I don’t know what happened ! One minute it was parked on the street in a spot that I swear was completely legal –– and the next I heard metal and glass and –– - Oh, it was horrible ! ❞
