Ahhh I'm about halfway through the fifth season and jesus... why have I not read anything by N.K. Jemisin before??
This is just storytelling at its finest, each chapter leaves me reeling as she unravels the mystery of her world a little more. It's rare that a fantasy world feels so unique, it's not just Earth a little to the left. It's... off but not? Like, its rules are different, its people are different but still very human. Some struggles are universal even when your planet hates you.
There's a reason each book in this trilogy won a Hugo award, I guess. Damn, just damn.
Whoever is doing this is some kind of footsie veteran, because there is no indication anywhere of covert activity. Not one twitching mouth, no reddening face- there’s only one thing to do.
He brings his boot up and smashes their toes into the ground.
Grif leaps out of his chair, knees banging the table and clattering the plates. “OW! Goddamit!”
“¡Eso es lo que obtienes!”
Expletives of concern and confusion ripple around the table as Grif clutches his foot, leaning near out of his chair and shoots Simmons a dirty look. “What the hell?!”
“Why are you looking at me? I didn’t do that!”
“What do you mean you didn’t-” He falters, face going from pissed to alarmed. He glances wide-eyed around the group. “Nevermind.”

I had started my own tarot cards RP but I’m a terrible admin and I literally got it everything ready, spent hours doing graphics and etc, but my computer stopped working and the RP didn’t even start. The point of this story is just to say that this RP just reminds me of it?? IDK man I LOVE TAROT CARDS and everyone looks amazing but... DEFINETELY A REC tho
