Wanna learn something interesting today?
Great, because I'll be telling you anyway! Perhaps some of you Undertale fans might already know this, but I'll say it here if you're interested!
Did you know that the irish (or 'Gaeilge' if we're being more specific :P) word for 'friend' is 'cara'?
Now let's say we want to say 'my friend.' Well irish has this funny little effect on nouns when you add possessive pronouns in front of them. Still with me ^^'? Depending on what possessive pronoun it is the word either stays the same or a letter is added. (There's a bunch of other rules there too but I'd be here all day if I explained them so apologies to those of you who are more curious)
To cut a long story short, with certain nouns beginning with 'C' you add a 'h' to it directly after the C if you use the possessive pronoun of 'my'.
Therefore 'my friend' translated to Gaeilge is 'mo chara' :D.
'Chara?'... Now why does that sound so familiar...
Oh... yeah ^^'.
To this day I'll still read this as "I am friend" and that honestly creeps me out more than it should :/.
So there you have it! Hope you enjoyed learning a bit of irish today! Sorry if I bored you to death instead :D!
Slán go fóill! (Bye for now!)
