how many men does it take to attack nightless city?

a very silly thing i did instead of coursework. nobody needed to think abt this this much

so to start with this appears to be the army we’re working with. bit hard to count but i’m estimating about 60? nhs obviously stays behind, and i don’t actually know where jin zixun is by the end of this, but i’m giving him the benefit of the doubt and counting him.

now mianmian shows up at the war camp, despite me not being able to see her before? plus the other person involved in the soup incident must be here so i’m just not taking them into account, i think we’re okay to keep the combatants count at about 60 for now

now we have some battles. how many people die in these? no idea! and I don’t ever really get a clear answer

we then see lxc meet up with wangxian + jc. between them they have 27 people. unknown number of nie and jin around. there’s definitely some nie in the following battle but i don’t know exactly what’s going on in terms of who’s where

meanwhile that nie count’s going down by 4

now we hit the beginning of the final battle. not sure how many people we still have at this point but I think it’s fair to say they’ve lost at least 1/3 of the initial army

by the end of it that’s gone down quite dramatically. initially it’s looking like 8 survivors, however…

there’s actually 4 people just out of frame in front. unfortunately…

these are the four who get fireballed and incinerated. so back to 8 people (plus nie mingjue)

by the end of the battle, it’s not looking good. wangxian are up the stairs with meng yao (who i’m not counting here) and wen ruohan’s body. lxc and jc are the only ones alive down below.

but never fear! at the last minute (last minute? after the last minute?) jin zixuan shows up with five whole people!

so our final count is 11 survivors out of that initial army. you know what, 1/6 survival rate was better than I expected but uh…that’s mainly because the army was tiny to begin with
