wait what's going on with caitlin moran
Oops, I might have just reblogged a lot of hate.. Sorry for the Hate-spam.
Okay, so I wasn’t there in person but this is basically what happened: Caitlin Moran made Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman read out a Johnlock fanfiction at the Sherlock Premiere at the BFI. The way she did this made it clear that she was doing it for a laugh (The video of them reading it was somewhere on here yesterday, don’t know if it’s still online).
This is not only a horrible position to put the actors in, as they were clearly uncomfortable reading it, it is also disrespectful to the fandom as a whole. She did not have the author's permission to use her work and she also took the story out of context and called the writing “clumsy”. What she did was making fun of fans, shaming Johnlock shippers and mocking and discouraging fanfiction writers.
I hope that clears things up a bit.
