Stupid question but how do you even come up with situations to put your ocs in for doodles? I love how even your sketch dumps have a lot of characterization/storytelling and would love to do that with my own guys but I’m always thinking about The Narrative
honestly when i doodle i kinda ignore The Narrative a little bit and put the focus on their personalities / dynamics instead. like instead of trying to come up with "plot-relevant scenes", i think about possible scenes/situations that aren't necessarily relevant to the main plot but still say a lot about the characters if that makes sense?? (how they act in situations i could find myself in, how they treat each other, how they dress, etc etc)
to be honest i don't put that much thought into these doodles and often just draw things as soon as they pop into my mind lolll. but i generally avoid explaining their story too much because it would just be very confusing for anyone who doesn't have immediate access to my brain. like i've been posting oc stuff for almost 6 years now and i've maybe shared like 5% of their lore and the story that they're a part of. also certain plot points just change over time, and i don't want to be mentally bound to a doodle i made ages ago
