While certainly, the early 2000s were a more out and out queerphobic time in our recent history, the common idea that the modern age... somehow ISNT... is a mindset that baffles and confuses me.
While sure you aren't going to have 15 year olds with frosted tips calling you Metrosexual all because you decided to wear a pair of jeans that actually fit, you ARE going to get aggressively they/themmed if you dye your hair or have long hair as an amab.
It isn't teens throwing sticks and calling you faggot, it's the same aggression with a different language.
The times have changed but the attitudes haven't.
