Okay so about connor murphy

(and i suppose kinda the rest of the characters in the show as well)

not to get all defensive or anything even tho connor is my edgy, stoned, baby, but calling him toxic and/or abusive completely overwrites the point that the writers were trying to get across when creating him and the other characters. the point of the show - among a few others - is to bring light to the fact that nobody is good or bad. everyone does shitty things; evan lying, zoe being aggressive toward evan, heidi not following through on commitments, etc. but they all also have good sides. including connor. only focusing on the last day he was alive as a judge of character rather than also including what we know about him from the book, other parts of the show, and from things the writers have said, gives such a skewed perspective. he was in the darkest place he ever had been. nobodys gonna be using their best etiquette at that point in time. whats more, we see him be kind to evan at other points. encouraging him to move on from what happened even when he knows that he wont hear. no ones actions taken out of context (or even in context in a lot of situations) seperated into small portions and overanalyzed is going to give you the whole story on who they are as a person. and coming down on connor hard as fuck because he was a dick to evan for one day isnt super cool. thats not abuse friends. it doesnt mean its okay to act like that of course, but theres a difference between acting in the moment on a bad day, and singling someone out to purposefully hurt and torment. dont forget that connor isnt the only one with flaws!!
