I'm Italian and the majority of people here is christian, so I know what I'm talking about and I can totally say you're right! Focusing in Jesus, I'm so sad they are now using it as a tool to justify their discrimination towards other cultures.
True! It's sad how they try to mask the truth just to serve their purposes. The deification of Jesus to make him less accessible serves their purpose. To say that he was a man who would've thrown them out of their positions of power for amassing wealth in the face of the suffering of those who seek help- yeah, these are the same people Jesus threw out of the temple. They've just got new cloaks and new books. This is beyond taking his words out of context or taking them too literally.
