What happens next? The world after MLA’s defeat
The city of Deika is mostly destroyed and the outside world doesn’t know why. The rest of the MLA’s 116,510 followers stationed outside of Deika don’t even know. That provides the Leauge with an amazing and terrifying opportunity.
If they want, they can keep Re-Destro alive and use him to assume the appearance of normalcy. Deternat continues as normal with Re-Destro as the figurehead -- a puppet for the League. His influence draws more people to the MLA (which is now really the League). In order to inflate that influence, they they release a statement about how a dastardly villain group (perhaps the League, perhaps another) stormed the city and the good people of Deika were unable to fight back because of quirk legislation. This draws even more sympathy for the MLA’s cause and grants the League more people to use.
In the background, the League now has access to all of the MLA’s resources and then some. They have all their money (including government funding for the heroes), Trumpet’s political party, Skeptic’s satellites, all of the MLA’s followers and sympathizers, and all of Deternat’s products. They’ve also gained Gigantomachia’s trust and whatever it is that the Doctor promised them. This on top of their access to the Doctor’s skills and resources, his nomus, John-chan’s teleportation, Shigaraki and Toga’s upgrades, Stain’s followers, and AFO’s leadership, skills, and quirks (once he gets out of jail). And no one knows about it. They can easily accumulate even more power before their next major clash with the heroes.
The League was already successfully creating chips in hero society. But now they have such a massive advantage over the (real) heroes that there’s no way they can reasonably put up a fight for long, especially since they probably won’t know the severity of the situation for a while longer. Their budgets are comparable but technology and future public opinion is squarely on the side of the League -- including the UA traitor, who now has access to an entire library of new stealth equipment to choose from.
Before this arc, Midoriya’s new quirks were OP bust still necessary to take down AFO. But now they’re nowhere near enough. The world of BNHA is going to breakdown before it gets better.
