rereading captive prince and wanted to ask an opinion: why did the guards drug laurent with chalis? did they plan to rape him before killing him and blaming damen?

I was actually talking to my housemate (who i convinced to read cp hahaha) about this scene a couple of weeks ago, and she pointed out that it’s not actually challis that Laurent is drugged with; Damen considers it is and then when he checks out Laurent’s goblet, he realises it’s an Akielon pleasure drug.

Anyway, I’m pretty sure that’s the implication! Esp since Damen describes the purpose of the drug as leading ‘from virility to abandonment’. But it also could just be part of framing Damen, since the drug is Akielon.

jw: why do u think it's racism not to ship sam and steve? ofc i know there is heavy fandom racism out there but i don't ship them together at all. i don't really ship sam with any guy tbh. i just see sam as straight. (although there was this one stucky fic where at the end sam ended up with tj hammond and i loved that). i don't seek it out. it's like how i see sam winchester as straight but dean as bi and i can't read fics where sam is with a dude. why can't it also just be a preference?

2) maybe it's making because i can't see steve with anyone other than bucky which is why sam falls into the bracket of people i don't ship him with. so technically by that, i have many notps when it comes to ships i am devoted to. i guess i don't see what's wrong with having headcanons that some characters are straight and others aren't. but i do agree that there is racism when it comes to shipping white characters with POCs. especially male POCS. look at poe/finn.

It’s one thing to think someone’s straight or to not ship something. But fandom seems to have the power to see anyone as gay...except black characters. And there is zero evidence in canon that Sam is straight. Like, the look he gives Natasha when she pulls up at the beginning of Cap 2, the thing that people use as evidence that he’s straight (because it’s pretty much the only possible evidence)? That’s the exact same look he gives Steve when Steve shows up to break him out of underwater supermax.

So people really need to ask themselves WHY they so adamantly see Sam as straight. You said it yourself - there’s a serious pattern and a shitton of racism when it comes to black characters in fandom. Shipping doesn’t exist in a vacuum - context matters.

And at least you’re honest about being a strict Steve/Bucky shipper. I don’t really get it because I’ve always been a multishipper, but you do you. But the posts I screenshotted? They talk about shipping Steve with everyone except Sam. So it’s not about actually having an OTP - it’s about not wanting to ship Sam with their favorite white boys. Because they can say they ship him with Nat or Maria until they’re blue in the face, but they’re not out here writing Sam/Nat or Sam/Maria fics.

And none of this is even touching the gross “Sam takes care of everyone else because he’s all about all these other people’s happiness isn’t he so great?” bullshit that was in that post.

YOU. also, cas has a special connection to his actual vessel. god has remade it specifically for him, and he has called it “my body” in at least one occasion. so i guess he was also a bit offended by ishim’s remark.
