The Wandering Guardian
ASSOCIATED WITH: Wisdom in judgement, Clarity in inner reflection, Calmness and honor in negotiations, strength and endurance in defense of another. Lesser associations: Devout Hedonism (Philosophy), humble nature, compassion, prosperity, opening doors of new opportunity.
SACRED PLANTS: Wisteria Bonzai, golden spider lily.
SACRED STONES/GEMS: Onyx, Sunstone.
SACRED ANIMALS: Black Cobra. Any creature with molten gold eyes is said to be a ‘watcher’ of the Kami, and thus care is taken over ones actions while in their presence.
COLOURS: Black, Gold, Crimson.
FOOD: Yakitori Skewers, Soba, and Sukiyaki.
SCENTS: Sandalwood and earth. The Deep forest after rain. The fog of the high mountains.
ACCEPTED OFFERINGS/WAYS TO HONOUR:
Bonzai trees are often the typical shrines found within the homes of his devoted, with the trunk often wrapped in a small cobra made of gold, silver, metal, or stone. Offerings are often stone cups of forest soil to which incense can be pressed in and burned before the sapling to pull his attention to the home. While cups of hot tea, and small bowls of miso are often left as well to encourage the kami to stay as a guest. Prayers, are often conducted as simply as a conversation among friends. With the tone of them often informal and heartfelt as the devoted speak of their troubles and why they sought his ‘council’ to begin with. It is said that if a golden eyed being is encountered within the week following such a prayer - that the kami has blessed his influence upon the individual. If the Bonzai wilts, then he has rejected the individuals requests. Honoring him can be done just about anywhere as one travels, and often consists of sitting down and having a cup of sake or tea for two. In which the second cup is then poured onto the earth when finished, or given to an individual struck with misfortune. His sacred places are abandoned shrines and villages. His wrath comes in the form of red eyed snakes and wolves.
