Digimon community

When tumblr launched communities, I excitedly created this community, only to realise it needed to be approved by tumblr first. By the time it launched proper, I had forgotten, and wasn't sure where to start playing around with this new feature...

From what I can tell so far, how do tumblr communities work?

I feel like you could compare it to a large group chat that only shares content, not messages? Every member of the community can reblog posts into the community, or make posts directly inside the community. These posts will not show up on your own blog.

If you reblog or make a post in a community, it'll always display you as your main blog.

Posts from the community will not show up on your regular dashboard. Instead, you see them if you go to your community tab.

In your community tab, you can either start scrolling through all your communities' posts, or click on one specific one and browse that.

You can browse posts by Latest or Popular. So far, I am not sure if the "Popular" gauges the posts overall interactions, or the interactions from within the community. I assume it's the latter though, as most communities I've check out, don't have posts showing up in the popular tag so far. Probably due to people not having interacted with communities a lot. The Poll tab will display all posts from the community that have, well, polls in them. Lastly, the Discover tab shows posts from the tags that are attributed to the community. There's two ways you can interact with posts exclusive to communities. You can add a comment/reply to a post, seperate from the normal comment section of the post, or you can add an emoji reaction if you don't know what to say.

Are tumblr communities worth a shot?

Personally, I don't know yet. Obviously it's also not easy to try out without other people joining too. I feel like this is great for people who don't want to check out content by exploring tags. It might also be nice to feel like you get to engage with a post, or the community, on a more personal level, if you use the new features?

For me, I would be excited to share more digimon content, without worrying about messing with the regular schedule of this blog.

The Maximum number of members for a community is 1K, which on one hand feels like a big number to reach, but on the other hand, would not fit all the digi-lov followers for example.

i’ll never forget how i first met angemon. i was watching sailor moon on rtl2 and when it was over, a commercial came that a new anime will air. it looked good, i really liked the style and then all i could see was angemon from the first opening when he moves his wings and feathers start to dance around him and i was like okay, i will LOVE THIS ANIME. then it aired and i still love digimon, so i was not lying <3
