guys it’s his in-universe birthday today!!!!!! yay birthdays!!!!! :D

OKAY BUT LIKE Seriously imagine being Deko. Imagine being bullied all your life for not having a special power like everyone around you, and the one time you thought you had a slight chance at greatness just gets ripped away from you. Imagine that in an act of desperation, you sign up to get experimented on, in the hopes you can get superpowers you can truly call your own, just to get embedded with demonic magic; the effects of that impulsive decision being completely irreversible.

Imagine giving up on yourself, but then meeting someone who gives you the opportunity to help save the world. Your brain wants to say no, yet your heart said yes, so the next thing you know you’re being taken on this whirlwind of an adventure with an incompetent leader and chaotic teammates. Imagine that after spending quite some time doing this routine, you’re brought in for a small quest to help… you?

He has the same hair and freckles and birth name, but this person is not truly you. THIS guy you’re helping (who’s apparently from another world) is happier, wiser, and is overall doing much better than you’ve ever been able to. He doesn’t have powers, just like you used to, but there isn’t a demonic trait in sight. Turns out, he learned to love himself despite his insecurities instead of wasting time chasing some stupid dream of being a ‘hero’. He’s what you could’ve been; He’s in every way a better version of you.

Imagine that even after experiencing all that trauma and grief and having the fate of the world be on your shoulders, almost none of it truly mattered. nobody bothers to remember your name, everyone treats your existence as another side character in their story, and to top it all off, the same apocalypse that caused a lot of this mess just happens again a mere three years after the first adventure. Imagine being a 16 year old at the time of S1’s finale, and going through this much.

All I hope for is that after the timeskip(s), he’ll be in a better spot.

like. thematically and storywise it makes so much sense. he wasn’t given the powers he wasted so badly, so he decided to reach out and take them. he pulled them out of the world and buried them deep in his sinew and made himself have them. he pulled his bones and skin into the right shapes, the shapes he wanted… and hey, if it worked out so well for him, why not try it on other people? give other people the things they were denied by the world? sure, he’ll give you that beach bod you wanted… as long as you give him a bone or two in return. the wings he pulled out of his own back, sculpted out of his ribs and shoulder blades, took a lot of it, you see. a boneturner’s gotta eat.

anyways THANK YOU FOR ASKING. i totally agree friendica is so so real. but. bbut i also really really REALLY like friendmar especially mar being the therapist of the therapist friend (LOL) if that makes sense😛😛

like, since mar already went through that kind of process (shoutout kazoo man you a real one) he's more than equipped to help friend. especially when she's adamant that she doesn't need it, because why would she? she's not the one that needs help, they do!!

OH OH. DEKO AND FRIEND IS SO PEAK IM SO SAD PEOPLE ARE SLEEPING ON IT. dude deko is a literal "monster" and friend is a literal angel. they're GOING to pity deko, and they're going to pity HARD

i especially like it when it crosses over into coddling territory? like a more protective toriel. as in, friend literally restricts deko so that it's easier for her to look out for him. maybe even cutting him off from other people but that's an idea for another time..... :3c
