I think Jennifer’s never really had a serious romantic relationship before Georgie. She went on a few dates in college but nothing clicked, and she moved back in with her family soon after graduating, and Piffling doesn’t really have a lot of options. Besides, she devotes all her energy to running the radio station, and she doesn’t mind being single! Honestly when Georgie asked her out, it surprised her, but she liked talking to Georgie and wanted to get to know her better.

Her inquisitive nature had made previous dates uncomfortable, but Georgie appreciates it, as volunteering information about herself doesn’t come naturally to her. It’s good for her to open up a bit, and Jennifer acts like every new detail is the most fascinating thing she’s ever heard. It’s totally genuine, too. She loves listening to Georgie’s stories, and is just as willing to talk about herself, if Georgie asks. She also has the journalistic sense to know when to drop a question. 

After their first date (they got pastries from Chapman’s bakery, but went and ate a picnic on the coast, because Georgie was not about to go on a date inside Chapman’s) Jennifer accidentally asked about a follow-up interview instead of a second date, partly out of habit and partly because Georgie looked really pretty in the ocean breeze and had laughed at her joke and her laugh was so nice, and– when she realized what she’d said, she tried to backtrack in a panic, assuring Georgie that she meant date and that she’d had a lovely time. Georgie thought the whole thing was cute rather than utterly mortifying, luckily.

oops this was a lot. anyways i love jennifer delacroix and i really hope she’s got a slightly larger role in season 4 because she’s excellent.
