Another vintage 1906 postcard, this one showing an elaborate residence on Delaware Avenue. The book I recently finished about Mark Twain’s Buffalo period itemizes a number of the residences along Delaware Avenue (then Street in 1870) where the prosperous and powerful lived around the home Mr & Mrs Samuel Clemens at 472 Delaware. In a city that once had the highest per capita concentration of millionaires in the US, Delaware Avenue was sure to have many of them. These postcards appear to be compliments of the Buffalo Morning Express, which happens to be the newspaper where Mark Twain was an editor and part owner from 1869 to 1871.
