I love when you’re in a moment, living it, passively content and undoubtably unmoved by the past or future, and suddenly, feeling the utter significance of it all, you persuade yourself that it’s imperative to establish every detail of it onto the backs of your eyelids—the creaminess of the gossamer clouds that are strung out above the teal sea, the exact way the slanting sun is spreading her fingertips across the landscape before you, the warmth in your spirit generated by the people at your side, the alkaline sting of the salty air—so you can conjure the memory again, vividly, for years to come. This was one of those moments for me. And that’s why I love a photograph, which acts as a visual reinforcement to these cerebral recollections, that, as time passes, are bound to fade on their own.
