We love our flock! We have a couple of modern hybrid breeds; Blue Star and Black Star, as well as several older historic breeds; Rhode Island Red, Barred Plymouth Rock, Silver Laced Wyandotte from the late 1800’s, Delaware from the 1940’s, and the ancient English breed, the Speckled Sussex.

After what seems like weeks of cloudy, rainy days, finally a day full of sunshine! Spent some time visiting with our hens and young rooster, Big Al. If you wear Crocs, the chickens will peck your feet through the holes!

We’ve gotten very fond of our rooster, Big Al, and love to hear him crow and watch his antics with the “chicken ladies”. He was one of the two Delaware pullets added to our flock this Spring and had been named Alice.
