It is of course better to know useless things than to know nothing.
Seneca, Moral Letters to Lucilius
Just saw literally the most ridiculous anti-Israel ad on YouTube. It basically went “Muslims worship at Al Aqsa. Christians worship at the Holy Sepulcher. Jews worship at the Western Wall. Separating people by religion? Sounds apartheid-y.”
They’re different religions. They have different holy sites. A Christian has no reason to go to Al-Asqa. A Jew has no reason to visit the Holy Sepulcher. A Muslim has no reason to visit the Western wall
Jews are actually forbidden from Al Asha even though it’s also a Jewish holy site. However, the other sites do not ban people of other religions from visiting
Also - how is having different places of worship apartheid? It feels like it’s trying to say this area is the only place where X is allowed - and X is not allowed anywhere else.
Which isn’t true.
But I know somebody is going to watch it and think segregation! I knew it.
Excuse me while I bang my head against the wall.

Stopping yourself mid-conflict to change your perspective is allowed! It’s okay and normal to be mid argument with someone and realize you disagree with your own stance. Often I find myself and others caught up in trying to win the argument (not the point of arguments!) or too embarrassed to back down and be wrong. I promise there is so much more pride in going “Stop! I’m wrong. I hear you and I see how I wasn’t in the right and I want to amend my view” than digging your heels in.
Israel: 2 million Arab citizens with full and equal rights
Gaza: 0 Jews (if you don't count corpses and hostages)
...but campus hamasniks who don't know anything they didn't learn from TikTok propaganda accuse Israel of Apartheid.
