I think Gavin's clothes smell like sweat, cigarette smoke and cheap whiskey. I think Gavin, when he's clean, smells kind of sophisticated because his soap or cologne SMELLS more expensive than it actually is and I bet that's why he buys it. But I think his natural scent and odor is a very distinct musk. It invokes feelings of familiarity, safety and comfort. Masculinity and strength.

Honestly, that sounds incredibly on point for Gavin. While he doesn’t have a lot of money, he does like seem as though he’s pretty in control of everything in his life -- appearance plays into that a lot. Hence his rather expensive riding jacket that he tends to wear relentlessly. Smokes a bit outside of work so I think that smell and taste lingers, but as far as natural scent it really does the job he’s trying so hard to accomplish with all of his over the top bullshit. Gavin leans towards being hyper masculine and accepting a lot of toxic masculinity in terms of his own traits and behaviors to be able to feel more like he’s in control, respected, etc. And I think it’s kind of poetic that the baseline smell of him hits that mark of being that better than any front, while also capturing his ability to make people he cares about feel incredibly safe and comfortable.
