hiii! so sorry to come in like this, but i wrote a tiny coda fic for zooey and susan from surrealestate if anyone's interested: The Lighthouse (there's hardly any people talking abt this show so i thought i'd share)

Chuck really won in the end and i hate them for this empty feeling they created. but we will still claim the characters for ourselves, i'm starting on my fix-it fic. btw, i dunno if you remember, but that story where i was torn between languages to write in? yeah, i'm gonna write it in english.

Re: the characters, yup! We can claim them for ourselves. I choose to believe that before and after receiving Sam in Heaven, Dean was with Cas. I choose to believe that Eileen was Sam’s wife and that when she died she joined him in Heaven (or maybe she was already there when he died; it doesn’t matter). I choose to believe that Jack will visit them from time to time and they will live happily ever after. And I choose to believe that Dean will get his bar and will be joined by a certain angel of the ex lord.

Listen, his character arc in Angel is one of my favourite ones in any work of fiction ever. There was so much depth to him, and even though he changed so much from the start of his journey to the end, what never changed was his core motivation: doing whatever he thought was right for the greater good regardless of how difficult or unpopular a decision it my be. He was a ruthless bastard when he needed to be. I was always really impressed that they kept that part of him consistent throughout the series.

Not to mention, he didn’t turn into an entitled whiny man child when the woman he was into, didn’t feel the same way about him, and when they were unrequited, he never made his feelings her problem. 

Side eyes a certain other character Buffyverse character pointedly.

But yes, Wesley is the greatest ,I could write endless essays about his development so I’ll stop before I start doing that, but it’s good to know there’s still Wesley appreciation out there :D

heya! u know i was a bit disappointed in dean's reaction at the end of 13x18 (like grrr why does he still only know how to express himself through anger), but then i started to wonder...have we seen him breaking things like this in front of sam and cas before? (we might've i just really can't remember, there's been too many episodes)

HAAAAAA too many episodes. I know, in order to keep as much SPN canon stuffed into my brain as possible I’ve had to overwrite unimportant information such as “what year is it” and “what did I have for lunch today.” I’m sure it wasn’t just a tim tam and a cup of coffee. But it might’ve been…

We’ve definitely seen Dean break down and break stuff in a fit of anger, but you’re right. The few times that Sam’s even come close to seeing Dean act out his anger in that manner was evidence of the aftermath of a couple of Mark of Cain related outbursts… specifically the “Tell me you had to do this” after slaughtering Randy and the Very Bad Men in 10.09, and hearing about his massacre of the Styne Family from Cas in 10.22.

(and ugh, this is why I particularly hold a grudge against s10, because what that Actually Dean? or was it the Mark (aka Amara, aka NOT Dean at all) controlling him? the narrative just sort of handwaves more than a season worth of everyone believing that it was all on Dean and asks us to accept it wasn’t Dean at all, but the Darkness “taking him over.” but only when that explanation is convenient for justifying Amara’s behavior toward Dean, and not when laying blame on Dean for all those actions… I swear, s10 is the fucking worst).

Okay, anyway, back to the point. Dean has expressed a lot of strong emotions this season, and anger has only been one of them. It’s just been one that Sam’s been seeing in a first-person sort of way instead of only witnessing the aftermath. Dean yelling his feelings at Sam back in 13.03 was just the beginning of this, and even that wasn’t all about anger, but about grief and loss and despair.

Heck I am now an emotion and getting incoherent.

eta: I’m never gonna be disappointed at Dean for expressing his feelings instead of bottling them up and pushing them down and pretending he doesn’t have any feelings at all.
