Further to my earlier blog, its been 18 days and no improvement in Delhi’s air quality is there. I could understand that inhaling toxic gases would affect our lungs and might lead to lung cancer; but, recently, according to a study, I got to know that just living in Delhi’s air for 20 days may increase our chances of brain cancer by 10%. It is so alarming !!! Where are we leading to ???
Delhi government has started an odd-even rule for cars on road but it hasn’t helped since the main reason for pollution is crop-burning in nearby Punjab and nothing is being done to stop that.
Supreme Court has asked schools to close down for next two days, but, that is not a permanent solution. What after that ? And what about the extra classes that are still working (minting money) and parents who are sending their kids to these classes? What about the adults who are working in this hazardous poisonous air.
I think there should be curfew imposed in Delhi Ncr until the situation gets better. That ways people will be better off staying inside and everyone (government and citizens) will take this whole situation seriously.
Why are the state governments not taking any action against crop burning?
Why is central government not doing anything?
How can everybody relax knowing that lungs of 4.61 crore citizens are being choked without any fault of theirs??
