Just In
Just In : Government spending 4900 crores on building a temple !
This is when the country is dealing with severe economic breakdown. Farmers are dying, defence needs better investment, banks are closing down, industries are shutting down, delhi is dealing with severe pollution from crop burning, the whole country as a whole is dealing with innumerous problems which can be solved with less than 1/100th of the investment being done in building a temple.
Is such a huge investment required in building of a temple, a statue when people are dying of poverty/hunger ??
Tip of iceberg
People organising 1001 havans to reduce delhi air pollution🙄😂😢
Toxic lungs
Further to my earlier blog, its been 18 days and no improvement in Delhi’s air quality is there. I could understand that inhaling toxic gases would affect our lungs and might lead to lung cancer; but, recently, according to a study, I got to know that just living in Delhi’s air for 20 days may increase our chances of brain cancer by 10%. It is so alarming !!! Where are we leading to ???
Delhi government has started an odd-even rule for cars on road but it hasn’t helped since the main reason for pollution is crop-burning in nearby Punjab and nothing is being done to stop that.
Supreme Court has asked schools to close down for next two days, but, that is not a permanent solution. What after that ? And what about the extra classes that are still working (minting money) and parents who are sending their kids to these classes? What about the adults who are working in this hazardous poisonous air.
I think there should be curfew imposed in Delhi Ncr until the situation gets better. That ways people will be better off staying inside and everyone (government and citizens) will take this whole situation seriously.
Why are the state governments not taking any action against crop burning?
Why is central government not doing anything?
How can everybody relax knowing that lungs of 4.61 crore citizens are being choked without any fault of theirs??
life as it goes
I have recently watched the newly released web series ‘The Family Man’. An amazing one. In the series, there are terrorists who release harmful gases from a chemical factory in the Delhi air; result of which the entire Delhi will be put to death by next day.
Reality here is that we dont need terrorists to do that; we have us to do that job to ourselves.
The current pollution crisis in Delhi is no less than the above scenario. On one particular day, the pollutant levels rose upto 750-1000 but life went along as is. The easiest reason for the government to say is that it happens post Diwali because of cracker burning. But there was no cracker burning this year. Yet the pollution level rose to alarming rates.
The citizens of Delhi are suffering for the actions of the nearby states.
The real reason here is the crop burning in nearby states; for which nothing is being done. All that needs to be done is educate and provide the farmers with required equipments that can help them in their work without burning the crops and polluting the environment. But no such steps are being undertaken.
The surprising thing is its not just the government’s attitude towards the whole situation, but the people at large are also not moved by the gravity of it. Even when repeated warnings are being issued, people are still going around with their daily lives like before. Going for an early morning walk, exercising, doing yoga in the open grounds. Funny thing is people doing pranayam are deep breathing CO2, CO for getting healthier lungs.
Its not just adults, I saw my neighbour aunty taking her newborn grandchild out for a walk in his stroller, saying “I am taking the child out in the open because its good for him” !!??
The Delhi government declared an official holiday for all schools so that kids can stay indoors. But mothers are using that free time to send their kids to hobby classes!!?? My friend who has a 6 yo kid, says, “I am tired of keeping him at home the whole day, so I am sending him off for extra classes”!!??
The problem is that nobody u/stands how harmful this situation is. The damage caused by the pollutants affects our lungs in the worst way and that damage is irreversible. It may slowly lead to reduced lifespan. A study stated that all Delhiites have a reduced life span of 10 years because of this pollution. It affects kids the most. How are we raising our kids in this gas chamber and be happy about it?
I am confused as to if the real life inspired the show makers or the fictional show is just turning to reality ?
Hi
This is my first post ever.
I am a true blue Delhiite who lives, breathes(trying not to these days), sleeps Delhi. I have always lived here and love the city.
I would just like to share my everyday thoughts and feelings through this blog.
Hoping someone would identify with any of them.
