“Maleficent, they’re everywhere.”
It had taken a while, understandably so when one considers that she had to deal with a Dark Curse, a trip to the Underworld, a malevolent fairy, and an evil destiny, but Emma had remained true to her promise to help Lily find her father. She, Lily, Maleficent, and Killian flooded the library in search of records of dragon/human hybrids. The end result narrowed their search down to a few names. Regina had recognized some of them, and after after obtaining a couple of his belongings, found his location.
…Or rather, two of his possible locations.
It turned out that Lily’s father, even now, still had many wild oats to sow. Because of that, the locator spell had divided the group up in two. Maleficent and Lily were led more towards the central portion of town, whereas Emma and Killian were sent below to a cavern in the woods.
That’s where they found the eggs.
Emma and Maleficent were communicating over her set of walkie talkies.
“It’s okay. We found him back in town. You can come back. Just get out of there fast and hope that they don’t hatch. Baby dragons are rather testy when they first come out of their eggs."
Just as Maleficent said it, Emma’s heart skipped a beat. She could hear the distinct sound of cracking. She looked across the expansive space of the cavern. One of the eggs was cracking open.
Out of the corner of her eye, Emma could see Killian looking in the opposite direction.
And two cracking eggs became sixty in the span of seconds.
Suddenly, the all broke open, and all hell broke loose.
Emma thanked Zeus that she and Killian had both brought their swords. From every angle, baby dragons were zooming at them. They had made sure to simply knock them out, to the best of their abilities, angling their swords so that they’d hit against their scales, but strongly enough to incapacitate them. The two of them had gotten occasionally burned, but due to the small size of the dragons, it was closer to the same burns that would be inflicted if they had touched a hot oven.
For about ten minutes, they stayed roughly in place, defending themselves and each other. Killian had nearly made a return trip to the Underworld close to three times, and would have had it not been for Emma.
“Remind me when we get home to cover you in bubble wrap,” Emma yelled and she got a hit on another screeching beast.
“Kinky,” Killian snarked.
“Oh, shut up,” Emma said, but smiling, unbeknownst to her husband.
“Not that this isn’t fun, Swan, but we should really focus on leaving this infernal cavern.” Emma found her sword-free wrist encapsulated by Killian’s hook, and slowly tugged in his direction.
As they continued to fight, they inched their way closer and closer to the cave’s entrance. When they finally got to the border of the cavern and the forest, Emma spurned a cave in with her magic, successfully sealing the rest of Storybrooke from the dragons until something more could be done about them.Emma and Killian, once free sat alongside the rocks.
“Not the worst of our adventures,” Killian commented.
Emma chuckled. “Not by a long shot, but I’m serious about that bubble wrap.”Killian wiggled an eyebrow. “Well, I may not know what this bubble wrap is, but as long as you’re the one covering me in it, I suppose that’s alright.” Emma snorted, and inched her lips closer to Killian’s. Just before they met, an unmistakeable caw shot through the forest.
The two of them turned in the direction of the sound. Right next to them was a tiny green dragon. It’s body was as long as Henry was when he was lying down. His eyes were the color of ebony and his scales were equal parts slimy and tough looking.
Before either Emma or Killian could grab their weapon, the dragon lunged straight towards them.
And then, with its tongue roughly the shape and size of a pencil, it began to lick them.
“What the hell?” Emma shouted, trying to ward off the baby dragon’s burst of affection. She managed to free herself when the dragon decided it was Killian’s turn for some love. She’d apologize for leaving him to take the brunt of the dragon’s love later, with much more pleasurable kisses. For now though, she needed to get in touch with Maleficent.
“Maleficent,” Emma called into the walkie talkie.
“Emma,” Maleficent responded, instantly. “Did you two escape?”
“Yeah, but not alone. One of the dragons managed to follow us out, but get this: it’s kissing us.”
“Oh, dear,” Maleficent said.
“What?” Emma had a suspicion of what Maleficent might say next, but she needed to confirm it.
“Well, there’s no easy way to say this but…because you and Hook were the first two people the dragon saw…it believes that you’re its parents.”
Emma groaned. It was just as she feared.
“You’ve got to be kidding me!” Killian yelled, clearly hearing what Maleficent had just said. He was right known his back, trying, yet failing to stop the dragon from kissing and nuzzling him.
“The good news,” Maleficent continued, "is that there is a spell that will allow the dragon to imprint its love onto its actual father, but it will take about a day or two to complete.”
“Two days! Are we just supposed to play house until you finish the spell?”“Unfortunately, yes,” Maleficent responded.
“And if one of them imprinted us as its parents, than so did the rest of them,” Killian stated, grimacing as the dragon on his back continued to cuddle up to him.
“Think of it this way: You’ll get to practice for kids of your own one day.” Emma and Killian glared into the walkie talkie, and they were pretty sure Maleficent could tell that. “Anyway, gotta get started on that spell! I’ll call you when it’s done! Enjoy parenthood!"
“Maleficent!” Emma and Killian both screamed into what was now very likely an abandoned walkie talkie. The two then looked at the cave. They both knew that one of two things would happen: The dragons would either break out and find them, or they wouldn’t. The latter had Emma feeling cold and heartless and she was willing to bet Killian felt the same.
“A cave could be nice for a couple of days,” Emma shrugged.
“I’ve definitely slept in worse,” Killian said, in much of the same way. Emma helped Killian stand up, and the dragon cawed contently between them.
“Not how I pictured our family would start, but hey, what are you going to do?”Emma opened the cave once more with her magic and she and Killian stepped in.
While not deadly, fighting with sixty dragons for some semblance of control was going to be without a doubt their craziest adventure yet.()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()
